Ever since I got pregnant, Lysander seemed to want to stay by my side 24 hours a day. He still hadn't regained his memory.
I asked the doctor about it.
The doctor said the blood clots in his brain had mostly dissipated, but when he would fully recover, it was just a matter of waiting.
Lysander didn't seem to care much.
He felt it didn't matter; after all, he still loved me the same. I thought about it for a while and agreed, so I stopped worrying about it.
That is, until one morning, when he excitedly ran back to the room from the living room.
With an elated tone, he said to me: "Honey! You're pregnant!"
...
I shot him a glance: "I'm about to give birth."
Then, I realized something felt off.
"Honey! You've regained your memory?!"
Lysander walked over and helped me to my feet, nodding.
I felt a bit guilty for what I had done while he was still amnesiac. Without thinking, I immediately started apologizing.
"I'm sorry, honey, I shouldn't have lied to you when you had amnesia."
Lysander shook his head, grumbling, "This isn't your fault."
"You can tell it was Alistair's stupid idea."
"He's been fooling me for years, and didn't even spare me when I lost my memory!"
I silently watched him ranting about Alistair, but kept the fact that "Ala Star" was also Alistair to myself.
But I didn't expect Lysander to have gotten smarter.
"He even pretended to be an online friend to trick me."
"Fine, pretending to be an online friend is one thing, but what kind of ridiculous username did he come up with?"
Well, there was no saving Alistair now.
As he spoke, Lysander suddenly shifted the topic, "But I've already taught him a lesson."
"How did you teach him?"
"I stripped him of his right to be the godfather of my child."
Looking at his proud expression, I quietly retracted my earlier compliment. After regaining his memory, Lysander hadn't changed much. He still treated me like royalty.
The marriage certificate had already been hung up in the living room again.
Suddenly, I remembered his wedding vows when he told me: Loving you has become the most ordinary thing. Just like how he forgot me, forgot everything between us.
But he still remembered that he loved me.
