A few days later, I went to pick up Maribel from school.
As soon as I entered, I saw the CEO talking to her, with the principal standing nearby.
Maribel blushed and explained:
"Mom, this gentleman is donating a building to the school, and today he asked me to show him around."
What a clever scheme.
I could see the view of his disgusting thoughts all the way from the Himalayas.
The CEO was dressed in a sharp suit.
I hadn't seen him in a few days, but his face increasingly resembled that of a dog.
Not that I could say it aloud.
That would be an insult to dogs.
The CEO smiled smugly and said:
"Once the building is completed, it will be named Maribel."
Principal: "Who is Maribel?"
The CEO shook his head slightly, his gaze falling suggestively on my daughter.
"She."
Disgusting.
I was going to vomit.
I swiftly released the dog from its leash.
Attack!
Since the alley incident, I had adopted the dog.
The moment the CEO saw it, he recoiled, memories of the past rushing back to haunt him.
The principal stepped in to stop me.
"Maribel's mom, please restrain your dog. Don't frighten our distinguished guest."
...
Tsk.
Dream on.
Just then, Bianca arrived.
Her company had successfully weathered its crisis, and now, free of her engagement, she walked with confidence and pride.
The domineering CEO scowled the moment he saw her.
"Now you regret it? Trying to reconcile with me? I'll tell you right now, it's too late."
Bianca rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Pathetic!"
"I'm here to see Mrs. Blackwood," she said, before turning to me with a cheerful smile.
"Mrs. Blackwood, can I treat you and Maribel to dinner tonight? And afterward... can I stay at your place?"
She hooked her arm around mine, playfully begging.
I smiled and nodded.
The CEO froze, as if struck by lightning, pointing at Bianca with a trembling finger.
"How do you know her?"
Bianca grinned."I know everything about what happened in that alley."
She recited the story I had fabricated in full detail.
The CEO's eyes widened, his face pale with panic.
"Lies! All lies!"
But no one believed him.
