Don't stay so close to him...
... Pablo? Why? What's the meaning of this? It wasn't even that close, right?
But Kasey was really acting strange today. Still, there was something a little cute about it.
I groggily made my way back to the classroom, and luckily, most people didn't notice me.
But Pablo was different.
He was leaning back in his chair, raising an eyebrow as he looked at me.
"Jocelyn, why's your face so red?" I shot him a glare, and he just smiled.
I pretended to focus on my homework, acting like nothing happened. The person in front of me turned around to ask me a question, and just as they did, I felt something suddenly cover my line of sight. Pablo had placed his cap on my head, pushing it down slightly.
Then, he wiped the smile off his face.
"Is there a problem?"
"Just asking Jocelyn a question."
"She's not feeling well, ask me instead." He was surprisingly chivalrous.
The person in front: "…What do you even know…"
I couldn't help but laugh, then quietly glanced at Pablo, only to find him staring at me, with a smug look on his face.
---
I went home, and after thinking about it for a while, I finally decided to send Kasey a message.
[Do you know Pablo?]
There was no reply on the other end, but he should be at home at this time. Just as I was about to turn off my phone, it suddenly rang.
[I'm waiting for you at the gate.]
The gate?
I was a bit surprised, then hurriedly put on my cotton slippers and ran outside, using the excuse of asking Kasey about a school problem. When I opened the door, Kasey was indeed standing in my yard.
The light in the yard was dim, and he stood against the light, even his hair seemed to be glowing. But he looked like he was in a bad mood.
When he saw me, his originally cold expression softened. He reached out and handed me a cup of coffee.
"I got this for you on the way back from school."
I smiled at him, narrowing my eyes, and then took the coffee from his hand.
"You're really loyal!"
He rubbed my hair and casually pushed aside the stray locks from my ear. I froze for a moment, then stepped back a little.
Oh my god, what's going on with Kasey??
Why is he being so proactive all of a sudden?
But my retreat seemed to change the meaning of the situation in Kasey's eyes.
He pulled his hand back, gave a self-deprecating laugh, then lowered his head to hide the look in his eyes.
"Oh right, you still haven't answered my question."
I sat on the swing in the yard, drinking the coffee. The weather outside was indeed getting colder. Kasey took off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders, sitting down next to me. He was sitting so close that I could almost touch his face if I turned my head. He lowered his eyes, his tone calm.
"I don't know him."
"If you don't know him, why do you want me to stay away from him?"
I didn't understand—could he possibly be jealous?
…..
He was silent for a while, then looked at me, the faint lights reflecting in his eyes.
