I had a nightmare.
In the dream, Evander was collapsed in front of my grave, his white cuffs stained with blood. When I woke up, struggling to shake off the nightmare, I found the space next to me empty.
Where was Evander?
My heart tightened, and I didn't even have time to put on my shoes. Barefoot, I rushed out of the bed, searching for him. Strange noises came from the rooftop.
My heart sank, and I quickly ran upstairs. I slammed the door to the terrace open.
"Evander?"
"Are you awake?"
Evander was wearing an apron and gloves, with a thick gardening mat spread on the ground. He looked up at me from a row of colorful flowers. Every one of them was a flower I liked, the same ones I had planted in the apartment before.
When I was locked away in the psychiatric hospital, no one had taken care of those flowers. Evander had tried everything, but he couldn't save them.
Now, how was he planting flowers?
"Why aren't you wearing shoes?"
Evander furrowed his brows, took off his gloves, and stood up to fetch me some shoes. Then he brought over a small stool, placing it beside him, gesturing for me to sit.
"What made you think of planting flowers?"
His pale, long fingers scooped a handful of soil, pressing it into the pot with careful precision before watering it with a gentle pour. Pink petals of the rose glistened with dewdrops, their delicate beauty almost too much to bear.
"When the terrace is full of flowers, I'll take lots of beautiful photos of you."
That scene would certainly be beautiful.
Evander, one day, we'll have that moment.
