My thoughts cleared, and I looked in shock at Leopold Kensington, who was smiling wickedly at me. He was gazing at me with a silent amusement, his eyes filled with unrestrained mockery. In that fleeting moment, my skin crawled, and I couldn't help but shiver. My nails dug into my palms, the pain forcing me to stay alert. I looked straight into Leopold Kensington's eyes and responded coldly, each word deliberate:
"I understand, Leopold."
This life, I no longer wanted any entanglements with him.
Everything had ended when I died in my past life—my tragic death had marked the end of the chapter.
The days in the mental asylum were unbearable.
Every two weeks, Leopold Kensington would come to see me.
I couldn't endure the daily beatings and electroshock anymore, so I begged him, crying for him to release me.
With all my strength, I screamed, "Leopold, I was wrong, I won't like you anymore!"
Each time, Leopold Kensington would simply look down at me with cold indifference, his voice devoid of any emotion.
"Larissa, it seems like you're sick again."
And with his words, the torturous pain would follow. I tried to contact everyone I knew, hoping someone would save me, but Leopold had already made sure of my isolation.
He had completely sealed off any way for messages to get out. In just half a year, I was tortured to death.
After my death, Leopold Kensington went mad, clutching my corpse and refusing to let go. He said he regretted it.
He said he loved me.
He cried repeatedly, speaking of his twisted feelings and fears. Falling in love with his foster sister made him a target for judgment and suspicion. I stood by, watching all of this as a spirit, detached and cold.
I only felt disgusted.
Even now, seeing Leopold Kensington, I feel physically ill. So I turned my gaze toward Evander standing beside me. I opened my arms to him, holding back my tears as I pouted playfully.
"Honey, hug me."
