Aldric cried uncontrollably before leaving. Just as he reached the door, he asked, "Are you date with Cedric?"
I hesitated for a moment, considering whether I should use Cedric Linton as a shield, but in the end, I told the truth. "No."
He looked up suddenly, his dead eyes flickering with a glimmer of hope. He was about to say something when I cut him off. "Right now, no. But that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future."
"No," I said firmly, "I won't give you up again." I had no idea where he was getting the confidence from.
"Whatever," I continued, exhausted from the journey. I rubbed my temples. "You'd better have your lawyer ready. If we can't get a peaceful divorce, we'll have to go through the courts."
"You know," I added, "I own 20% of Rutherford Enterprises. I intend to make money from it, not sell it off at a loss just to settle our issues."
Aldric remained silent, his head lowered, not saying a word.
As the door was about to close, I couldn't help but soften for a moment, whispering:
"Aldric…"
In his suddenly bright eyes, I sighed. "If you ever decide you don't want the cat anymore, you can send it to me."
