The moment Aldric said those words, all the restlessness and frustration in him finally found an answer.
The karaoke bar was noisy, the lights above flashing in strange colors, and someone on stage was belting out a horribly off-key song.
When Aldric spoke, the music cut off sharply. The microphone was faulty, and the screeching sound of static pierced my ears, leaving me deafened for a moment.
I couldn't hear anything else he said.
But I could see him—dressed sharply in a suit, his features now matured, yet still crying in front of me without shame.
But, it was he who had said those harsh words. How was it that he was the one crying?
"Is that so?" I said quietly.
"Then what should we do?" I reached up, wiping away the tear at the corner of his eye. "I thought for a moment that you were going to die."
