Gregory's way of solving problems was to have Jasmine Montague apologize to me.
This beautiful and intelligent woman, two years ago, was so tender it seemed like she could be crushed with a gentle touch.
But after I left, she was repeatedly tormented by the volatile Gregory, her face gaunt, her hair dull. In an instant, she aged years.
Gregory demanded that she apologize to me.
Jasmine was forced to kneel before me by Gregory, and as soon as her lips parted, they cracked and bled.
"Mrs. Stark, I'm sorry. I seduced your husband and caused you trouble."
She chuckled lightly, her eyes full of disdain.
I looked at her, my heart unmoved, and even found Gregory laughable.
---
Jasmine's apology meant nothing to me.
Gregory could cheat on Jasmine, or he could cheat on any other woman. He's truly awful.
So their apologies meant nothing to me. I gestured for Gregory to let her go. As I stood up to leave, I gave Jasmine a sincere smile.
"Jasmine, the delivery man was bribed by you, wasn't he?"
"You're smart, but unfortunately, you're not the one who's been seducing my man. The real issue is the trouble you've gotten yourself into." Jasmine's once bright life has now been tainted by an inescapable mess.
Do I hate her?
Certainly, a little. But more than that, I pity her.
