I rubbed my eyes and looked down.
I wasn't expecting what I saw. I nearly jumped in surprise.
Josh and his parents were sitting comfortably on our sofa, chatting happily with my parents.
This Josh just doesn't know when to stop, does he?
I was furious and shouted, "Josh, come up here!"
The moment I shouted, I immediately regretted it.
Seeing the surprised faces around me, I wanted to bury myself in the blankets and disappear.
But Josh, as calm as ever, turned to his elders and said, "Eleanor wants me upstairs."
My parents quickly urged, "Go ahead. Eleanor's room is upstairs on the left."
Josh's parents were absolutely thrilled, their faces practically glowing with the "this marriage is secured" expression.
Once I dragged Josh into the room, I snapped, "What is this all about?"
He ignored me and instead began inspecting my room:
"So this is what you like?"
Josh smiled awkwardly, scratching his head, "If I'd known, I wouldn't have bought you that antique piece from the family."
I: "?"
I didn't know, but that was their family treasure.
Josh looked at me and laughed, "It's my first time giving a girl a gift, I had no experience, so I asked my sister for advice. I didn't expect you wouldn't like it."
Is this the point?
Unable to hold back, I asked, "Your sister?"
Josh pulled out his phone and showed me a picture of his sister.
Wait, this was the same woman who had been so affectionate with him that day!
So, she's Josh's sister.
"Really?"
Josh raised an eyebrow at me, "Of course, she's my sister."
Well, this is awkward!
Awkward indeed!
If Josh knew I almost broke up with him because I was jealous of his real sister, he'd probably laugh so hard he'd hurt his stomach!
Alright, I can forgive him for the jewelry.
But the fact that he hid his identity from me... I feel a bit insecure, especially since I've been hiding my own truths too.
Seeing that I was silent for a while, Josh pinched my cheek and teased, "In my eyes, you're the most beautiful."
Hmm?
When I realized what he meant, my face immediately turned red:
"What are you talking about?"
"Josh, stop laughing! Don't touch me, keep your hands off me!"
Just as we were joking around, there was a knock at the door.
It was my mom.
"Eleanor, Josh, it's time to go."
As we were about to leave, Josh unexpectedly grabbed my hand, and no matter how I tried, I couldn't shake him off.
When my parents saw that Josh was holding my hand, their faces lit up with mischief, and they kept giving me wink-wink looks.
Josh's parents had made a reservation at a restaurant, saying both families should officially meet.
I was curious, but when I saw that the restaurant was the same place I worked at, I immediately didn't want to go in.
Trying to avoid being recognized by my former coworkers, I slipped into the private room.
Before we even raised our glasses for a toast, the familiar feeling of nausea hit me again.
"Excuse me, I'll be right back, I need to use the restroom."
I vaguely heard my mom mutter, "This kid's been vomiting for days now, hasn't she? She's usually so healthy, what's going on…"
After I finished throwing up and returned, I suddenly realized the atmosphere at the table had become a bit tense.
I glanced at Josh, and noticed he was staring at me intently.
"What... what's going on?"
