Suddenly, a commotion broke out in the banquet hall.
A security guard approached, speaking in a low voice. "Mr. Ritter, there's a woman here claiming to be pregnant with Keshawn's child. She's causing a scene. Should we escort them out?"
Kaeden looked at me, his smile radiant and affectionate. "Let's go watch the show."
Today, Keshawn had returned. He looked noticeably thinner, no longer the pampered, fair-skinned young man he once was. Now, he had a healthy, sun-kissed tan and a muscular physique.
I had to admit, he was looking quite handsome.
At this moment, he wasn't in the banquet hall—he was probably in the bathroom.
The security guard noticed me and quickly said, "Ms. Genesis, they're not listening to advice. They refuse to wait on the sofa and are causing a scene here."
The title "Ms. Genesis" made both my parents and Evelin freeze for a moment.
Today, I was dressed in haute couture—an exquisite champagne-colored gown adorned with diamonds, my hair elegantly styled in an updo. I radiated authority and luxury, a stark contrast to my usual casual attire.
My mom was taken aback. "Genesis?"
I smiled lightly and nodded. "Yes, I'll take you to the VIP lounge to rest. Keshawn will be over soon."
They had been a little uneasy at this high-class event, but seeing me gave them newfound confidence, and now they were even more unwilling to leave!
Evelin stared at me, her eyes turning red with jealousy. "How could you attend this banquet? We don't even have invitations!"
Nearby, people couldn't help but chuckle and whisper.
"Can you believe some people don't recognize the president of Y Group?"
"Ha, they're not in our circle. Of course, ordinary people wouldn't know Ms. Genesis."
"Yeah, their clothes are so cheap—definitely not people from our circle."
Immediately, my parents and Evelin's faces flushed red.
They had spent a fortune on top-tier luxury brand clothing for today's event, but they were mass-market designs, not haute couture, so to the people here, they were just cheap.
Evelin pretended not to hear and stubbornly retorted, "Even if you are Ms. Genesis, so what? I'm carrying Keshawn's baby, the heir to the Gentry family."
Her words hit hard, instantly silencing the gossip.
Evelin now had the upper hand. She raised her chin and arrogantly looked down at me. "You're just the president of Y Group. How can you compare to me?"
"Haha!"
Someone in the crowd couldn't help but burst out laughing, shouting, "Hey, Miss, do you not read the news or go online? Ms. Genesis's worth now rivals Kaeden Gentry's."
"Besides, the whole Gentry family adores Genesis. Kaeden's been after her for over ten years! If you want to marry into the Gentry family, you'll have to get her blessing first."
"Yeah, I don't know where this country bumpkin came from, but she's so laughable!"
Evelin's face turned pale with anger. She shouted, "If you keep talking like that, just wait until I marry Keshawn. You'll regret it!"
At that moment, an angry voice interrupted, "Who's spreading rumors that I'm the father of their child?"
A path cleared in the crowd as Keshawn walked over with a stormy expression, striding toward us with an intimidating aura. Evelin immediately fell silent.
Kaeden slowly walked up beside me and whispered, "I just asked Keshawn, and he said there's no truth to this."
The smile on my face widened. This was exactly what I expected—this scene would be more entertaining than I thought.
Evelin was stunned, no longer daring to shout. She just sulkily said, "Keshawn, you can't do this! You were drunk that night. I came to your room, and although the lights were off, it was so dark, but you were so gentle…"
Everyone leaned in, eager to hear more.
Keshawn furrowed his brows. "Which hotel? When exactly? Tell me clearly, I'll have people fetch the surveillance footage right now!"
Evelin recounted every detail. She said she had been dining at the hotel and saw him drinking with friends before he entered room 302. She claimed she snuck into his room in the early hours of the morning.
She spoke in such detail that people started believing her.
But before Keshawn could respond, a large security guard in uniform, a woman, grabbed Evelin by the hair and sneered.
"Oh, I get it now. You're the one who snuck into my husband's room that night. Well, what do you know? Looks like my husband's got some serious stamina, huh?"
The crowd burst into laughter.
Evelin, of course, didn't believe it. She screamed in denial, "No! You're lying!"
Soon enough, the hotel's surveillance footage was shown. Keshawn had only been in room 302 for three minutes before leaving to sleep in room 305 across the hall. Evelin, on the other hand, was seen sneaking into room 302 at 2 a.m. and didn't leave until 4 a.m.
At 7 a.m., a tall, forty-something man in a security uniform was seen leaving the room.
The truth was clear now.
Evelin hadn't slept with any wealthy man—she had slept with a forty-year-old bodyguard!
Keshawn, furious, said he would sue Evelin for this. Coincidentally, I also had plans for that.
I pulled out the video of Evelin spreading the false rumor about me being pregnant back in school. I gave Keshawn full authority to hire lawyers and handle everything.
With solid evidence, Evelin collapsed to the floor.
The bodyguard's wife yanked her hair and dragged her toward the hospital.
"You dare sneak into my husband's room? You'll have to pay for his emotional damages. My husband's been taken advantage of, and now you've got a bastard child to deal with. Come on, we're going to the hospital to terminate that child!"
Evelin completely lost her mind. In her frantic struggle, she fell to the floor, crying out for help. But my parents, who had already distanced themselves from her, ignored her completely. They didn't even flinch when Evelin was beaten bloody.
