It's been a long time since I attended such a high-level auction. After all, events of this caliber only happen about five or six times a year.
Kaeden used to love bringing me to auctions because he thought I looked great when I raised the bidding paddle.
I was speechless.
The auction was really intense. It was initially expected that the price would be around $6 billion, but a few big players who made their fortune in oil overseas drove the bidding up to $9 billion.
It was amusing, watching the guy in front of me, a little pup, raise the paddle while looking back at me and smiling.
Sure enough, Kaeden, who had just vowed not to get jealous, immediately wrapped his arm around my shoulder and, when he looked back at me, gave my cheek a quick kiss.
The little pup's face fell, and he stopped raising his paddle.
I was about to settle the score with Kaeden, but instead, he handed the land over to me with a gentle, innocent smile.
"Genesis, congratulations! You successfully acquired the land!"
Alright, I forgave him.
It's not that I lack principles, but when someone's offering that much, it's hard to say no.
Seeing that I wasn't upset anymore, Kaeden began to brainwash me: "Genesis, I'm telling you, those little pups are fine to look at, but when it comes to marriage, it has to be someone mature, stable, and charismatic like me!"
I licked my lips and looked at him.
This man, he really is quite charming!
At dinner during our candlelit meal, I suddenly remembered something about Evelin and Keshawn, so I asked curiously.
"Did Keshawn really sleep with Evelin?"
I asked with some doubt because Keshawn had basically grown up before my eyes. I knew his temperament well, and logically speaking, even if he were drunk, he wouldn't have lost his self-control like that.
Kaeden's expression was indifferent as he took a sip of red wine, a smile playing on his lips. "I don't know. He's on a business trip in South Africa right now."
I repeated, slightly incredulous: "Keshawn went to South Africa on a business trip? Isn't your company's business there mostly oil and mining? Why is he, the VP of Foreign Trade, going to South Africa?"
Kaeden smiled, looking both amused and slightly mocking.
"Because he teased me about getting dumped."
I: ...
Keshawn, I'm so sorry...
