I was so angry I almost laughed. I wasn't pregnant, but they still accused me of being an unmarried teen mother.
I had never even spoken to that village thug, yet the fake daughter accused me of having some inappropriate connection with him. Ridiculous!
Clearly, my parents didn't care about my explanation. They quickly turned their focus to asking about the details of Evelin's pregnancy.
Upon hearing this, Evelin blushed and explained that about a month ago, the crown prince of the Capital Circle came back to the country. She had personally entered his room that night, securing the deal once and for all.
Then, Evelin proudly spoke up: "I've already sent word to the Ritter family. I'm sure they'll be coming soon to propose."
Upon hearing this, my parents' faces lit up, especially my dad, who looked content and said, "That's my girl, always stepping up for the family, always helping the family."
Then, he turned to me with a look of disdain, scolding me, "You're way better than your sister. Just look at her—she looks like some country girl with that outdated style. No self-respect at all. If this gets out, how are we ever going to show our faces?"
Evelin grinned mischievously.
"""Dad, my sister's been living in the countryside her whole life, so she probably just isn't used to the pace of the city. That guy from the village, even though he didn't finish middle school, his family owns a factory, and they just got a payout from the land development, so they've got some money now. Maybe we should have them come over and make a formal proposal. They could use the land development payout for the wedding expenses, which would also be a way for my sister to show her gratitude for everything you've done for her.""
"
Evelin's words left me dumbfounded, and they hit my mom's sweet spot.
"You've really grown up around us, always so thoughtful. You're right, we should get Genesis back to the countryside as soon as possible—don't want her getting in the way of your engagement to the heir of that big family."
My mom's really thought this through, hasn't she? This whole family, just a couple of words and they're already planning everything for me—no one even bothered to ask what I think.
I looked at the three of them with a cold expression and said, making sure they understood, "I am not pregnant."
"You don't believe me? I can get a detailed examination if you want."
But my dad didn't give me the chance.
"Stop looking for trouble. We've got enough going on at home. Even Evelin said it—Ritter's family is coming over soon to make a formal proposal. We should be getting ready for that."
...
This sentence from my dad was like a knife to my heart.
Ha...
The Ritter family?
I'd love to see when they actually come to propose!
If I'm not mistaken, Evelin needs to ask me before she can marry into the Ritter family!
