When we got home, we changed into clean clothes.
After a shower, I leaned against Alden's chest, half-closing my eyes while he used a blow dryer to dry my hair.
"Are you tired?"
I yawned. Today had been exhausting.
"I'll sleep later."
He suddenly stood up and brought in a contract from outside.
When I saw it, I realized it was a stock transfer agreement.
"All these years, your father has gradually sold off a lot of stock, plus he secretly bought shares from other investors. With my mother's shares, it's almost 40%."
I was shocked. "Why are you giving this to me?"
Alden gently ran his hand through my hair. "It was always yours."
The shares had all been transferred to me, and with my mother's portion, my holding was large enough that no one could challenge it.
"That child's share won't stir up much trouble."
"With Russell Huynh managing the company, you can just focus on your painting."
He handed me a pen and reminded me, "Sign it."
I raised the pen, but I couldn't bring myself to write. The overwhelming thoughts in my head were impossible to suppress.
"If you're moved, then give something back." Alden pulled me into his arms. "Brooks, you can't just let me follow you without any reason. About that question from the other day—girlfriend, fiancée, wife—you have to choose one."
His scorching kiss trailed from my forehead down.
"Which one will you choose?"
I looked up, my eyes red, meeting his heated gaze.
"Tomorrow I'll go home to get the marriage license."
