According to rumors from the outside world, as the most cherished young master of the Wutherspoon family, Lord Horace would certainly receive a great deal of attention from the family elders, even if he were recovering at home.
However, after a whole week on the job...
The only notable event happened one early morning when I was dozing off by Lord Horace's bedside. Half asleep, I heard some movement, and when I looked up, a large shadow loomed over me.
Frightened, I immediately grabbed the baseball bat I had prepared.
To my surprise, the person was none other than Lord Horace's father.
The true big shot of Kingston, Lord Maximilian Wutherspoon.
He looked weary, and there was a large suitcase outside the door. It seemed he had just returned from a business trip and had rushed over to check on his precious son.
I nearly collapsed in fear, considering how close I had been to striking him with the bat. But instead, Lord Maximilian patted my shoulder reassuringly.
"Take good care of my son."
Then, he turned and left.
The next day, I received an enormous check.
What was this for?
Was it a reward for my diligent work?
I silently slipped the check into my bag. And from that night on, I had an additional task:
Apart from guarding Lord Horace, I now had to protect my check.
After all, it was an open check.
But, aside from that, Lady Wutherspoon, who was always said to be the most doting mother, never showed up once.
Because I had a rather curious mind, I discreetly asked the security guard who had been on duty at the gate for years. He quietly told me that Lady Wutherspoon's eldest son was about to return to the country, and she had been busy setting up his mansion. She simply couldn't find the time to come over.
As for the rest of the Wutherspoon family, not even a shadow of them had appeared.
"But doesn't he need someone by his side even more?"
I leaned against the door frame and pointed toward the closed door upstairs.
The guard shrugged.
"Who knows? They say he's the most cherished young master, but now he's a vegetable. In a place like the Wutherspoon family, it wouldn't be surprising if he's treated as a castaway."
