"I'll go freshen up first," John said. "You rest for a bit."
As soon as I sat down and turned on the TV, my best friend called.
"What are you doing?"
"Just got home."
"Are you coming to the bar tonight? Plenty of handsome guys, just waiting for you."
I sighed, "Sis, I'm married now. Don't invite me to these things anymore."
"Marriage or not, just come out and have fun… Wait." She seemed to have realized something important, "You didn't fall for him, did you? You've never been like this. Did the Smith family put some spell on you? It's either Jack or John? Their styles are pretty different, so how come…"
Do I like John?
I don't know.
It seems I'm always wondering how he sees me, but forgetting to reflect on whether my feelings for him can truly be called love.
All I know is that when I'm with him, I feel at ease. When I see him smile, my heart races unconsciously, and when he acts cute, I'm at a loss.
If these can be called liking, then maybe I do like him.
"I'm not sure," I answered vaguely.
On the other end of the line, my best friend's tone suddenly became serious: "So, how's he treating you? If it's not good, don't get too caught up in it. No matter what, I've got your back. Don't make a mistake you'll regret later."
"I don't know if he likes me either," I found myself opening up, discussing with her, "But why does he like me?"
I'm not exactly special in a crowd.
I'm not eye-catching.
"Damn, just look at your face." My best friend complained on the phone, "At Jack's concert, there were so many people, and he still hasn't made a name for himself, but your video went viral when the camera panned over you. Think about it, why is that?"
"Even if that's true, John doesn't really like me," I refuted loudly into the phone, "He's just lusting after me!"
A cold voice broke up the argument between me and my best friend.
It was John.
"I'm not lusting after you." He had just come out of the bathroom, a towel still hanging on his damp hair. His voice was soft but clearly cut through my ears, "I've liked you for a long time, you just never noticed."
