Chapter 25

　　After years of emotional exhaustion, I couldn't bring myself to love him anymore.
　　I could try to reconcile with my own failures, but only if I could remove him as a reference point.
　　Icarus wasn't surprised. He just sat beside me, reaching up to gently touch my head.
　　He asked me, "Lavinia, you really decided to give up on me, haven't you?"
　　"I..."
　　"I made a mistake in the past, and you just sentenced me to death without even giving me a chance to defend myself, right?"
　　"You told that brat you still had a marriage, and sleeping with him was unfair. But have you ever thought, by abandoning me like this, is it fair to me?"
　　His eyes were red.
　　He said, "I really tried so hard to become the person you liked.
　　"I had someone follow him, study his style, learn his gentleness, even how to be coquettish, just to make you notice me more, to make you care for me."
　　"But you still abandoned me like this."
　　Icarus grabbed my wrist and softly asked:
　　"Lavinia, tell me, what should I do?"
　　"Do you want me to completely change my face to look like his? Wear a voice changer and mimic his voice? Even get bone surgery to become as short as him, so you won't be so heartless toward me?"
　　Icarus lost control.
　　He was serious, obsessed, lost in his emotions.
　　He was asking me for an answer, an answer that would let us walk together again.
　　"Icarus..."
　　I suddenly choked, reaching out to hug his neck, asking the same question he had asked me so many times before:
　　"How did we get to this point?"
