Chapter 24

　　Eager to prove something, he hurriedly led me into the house.
　　The moment I stepped in, he got off his clothes—
　　I was genuinely startled to see him open a drawer, take out a small white bottle, pour out some pills, and swallow them with water.
　　Was he on medication now?
　　But for a severe injury, could medicine even help?
　　I didn't know what to say, nor did I want to look at his bare body. I walked over and handed him the glass of milk in my hand.
　　His expression softened. "You used to prepare milk for me every night."
　　"How could I forget?" I replied with a faint smile. "I prepared it for you, but you never drank it, did you?"
　　He looked stunned, quickly grabbed the glass, and downed it in one gulp before saying hurriedly, "I won't do that again, I promise!"
　　I smiled faintly, avoiding his gaze.
　　He stepped forward, trying to hug me, even reaching to undo my clothes. But with just a light push, he fell onto the bed.
　　The last look in his eyes before they closed was a mix of disbelief and murderous rage.
　　It was just sleeping pills, but it had the effect of rat poison.
　　I stood quietly, watching him for a moment before letting out a soft scoff and turning away.
