Chapter 11

　　I still preferred to believe that in this novel's world, most people apart from the male lead's circle were normal—including Cedric.
　　After a long pause, he apologized to me.
　　"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up your pain."
　　"It's fine," I said, shaking my head and sincerely thanking him.
　　"It should be I who thank you. You have given me work and forgiven my shortcomings... You have helped me so much, I scarcely know how to express my gratitude."
　　"No need for thanks," he said softly. "Just work hard and don't tarnish our university's reputation. That's the best way to repay me."
　　I nodded, holding my cup of warm water. I couldn't help but smile at him.
　　"I still want to thank you."
　　"If it weren't for you, I really don't know how I would have made it through this."
　　If it hadn't been for Cedric waking me up, my self-loathing in the past few days would have crushed me into despair.
　　If it hadn't been for keeping busy... I truly wouldn't have known how to get through this time.
　　I looked at Cedric earnestly.
　　"You're honestly the most important person I've ever met in my life."
　　Cedric's hand, which had been fiddling with the IV tube, froze. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he shifted his gaze awkwardly.
　　He gestured toward the IV bag. "It's almost finished. I'll call the nurse."
　　With that, he turned and almost fled the room.
