I ignored her and raised two fingers.
"Second time, it was raining heavily, and you nearly ran into her on the road. She was holding a kitten, explaining that she was risking herself to save it. You were moved by her kindness and took her back to your villa that night. Isn't that right?"
Evander hesitated before nodding.
I continued to smile, "But according to my investigation, that kitten wasn't a stray. Its owner lives ten kilometers away from that street, so it shouldn't have been there in the middle of the night on that desolate road."
Yvonne's face turned crimson. "It's fate, just a coincidence!"
I pulled out my phone and displayed the footage from the cat owner's missing pet post.
It clearly showed that at noon that day, Yvonne had lured the cat away with a dried fish, then trapped it in a cage and fled.
Evander's face was now as dark as coal.
Yvonne, feeling guilty, fell silent.
"And now, right at this moment," I said flatly, "Evander, if you want to know whether I pushed her, just check the surveillance footage. Why doubt and speculate?"
He instinctively opened his mouth. "No, Rosamund, I don't distrust you..."
"You do distrust me. Even if you don't like her anymore, her influence on you still makes you subconsciously think I'm the kind of malicious woman who would push her down the stairs."
I interrupted him, my patience running thin. "Evander, you never believed in me. Of course, you don't like me. What you're doing now is just embarrassment over your past foolishness, but at your core, you're still selfish. If it were someone else, like Vvonne or Wvonne, your attitude toward me would remain the same."
But my parents believed in me.
Freed from the constraints of the plot, they trusted me without hesitation.
Evander grew more and more silent as I spoke.
After a long pause, he sighed. "Rosamund, I just want to go back to how things were before.
"You're smart and independent. You're the perfect match for me. Let's forget about emotions and just join forces, wouldn't that be good?"
I slowly smiled.
"Perfect match? Evander, you really misunderstand yourself."
"I see now that you don't consider yourself an object, but you consider me one."
"How dare you arrogantly think I'm some accessory to your success? I, Rosamund, will be stronger no matter who I'm with. I could choose you back then, and I can throw you away now. To me, you're no different from trash."
After saying that, I gestured to the door. "Take your little sweetheart and get out of my house."
