The next afternoon, I went to the Ravenscroft Family and dug out all the letters I had exchanged with Alaric.
In the letters, Alaric called me "Cassy" and said he had never met such a cultured and understanding girl as me.
He even compared me to the goddess Muse.
It made my teeth ache just reading it.
Cassius stood beside me, watching me tear up the letters, and teased:
"If he knew his 'goddess Muse' is the woman he hates the most at school, I wonder how he would feel."
I rolled my eyes at him.
After destroying the letters, Cassius and I went downstairs together.
Just as we turned the corner of the stairs, we heard Alaric's pleading voice:
"Mr. Ravenscroft, you can't stop funding me. I'm about to graduate from high school, and once I get into the top university, you'll have the glory too, right?"
Hearing the footsteps, he instinctively looked up.
And immediately locked eyes with me.
Cassius, hearing his words, sneered coldly and said:
"You really think my family needs you? If we wanted, we could sponsor dozens of students to get into the top university every year."
However, in Alaric's ears, this meant: "What are you? Just a tool for us rich people to toy with."
Alaric's eyes instantly turned red.
The way he looked at Cassius was no different from how he looked at me.
Under everyone's gaze, he pointed at Cassius and cursed:
"Just because you have money, does that mean you can do whatever you want and control others' lives? You don't understand me at all! Let Cassius come out, only she understands me. I need to talk to her."
"Oh." Cassius picked his nose, then walked toward Alaric, who was a full head shorter than him. Cassius looked down at him and sneered, "I'm Cassius. What's your problem?"
