I turned around in pain.
A petite girl with slightly dark skin and twin ponytails stood in front of Alaric.
Like a mother hen protecting her chick, she glared at me fiercely.
I could tell with a glance who this girl was.
Alaric's childhood friend, the "beautiful" female lead from the original book, Eleanor.
"Dolors, don't go too far!"
Before I could respond, Eleanor pointed at my nose and scolded me like a righteous crusader:
"Alaric has dignity. He would never be with you just because of your filthy money. Your actions, buying affection with money, are so childish and laughable!"
I looked at her expressionlessly.
Perhaps my gaze was too intense, as Alaric frowned and spoke coldly:
"What kind of look is that? Is there something wrong with what Eleanor said?"
Upon hearing this, Eleanor became more confident:
"Although Alaric refuses to accept your money, for his mother sake, I'll help you persuade them. But Dolors, don't think that this will make Alaric like you."
I made an "oh" sound, then said expressionlessly: "I really want to slap my shoe across your face."
Listen to what she's saying!
Were there any normal people in this book?
Alaric frowned in disgust. "What, do you want me to be grateful to you or something?"
I rolled my eyes, decisively took out my phone, called police, and said:
"You might as well save those words for the police."
Surely the police weren't brainwashed by this novel too?
Eleanor stared at me in disbelief. "You're calling the police?"
"How could you? You like Alaric so much, if you call the police, he'll hate you for the rest of your life!"
As soon as she finished speaking,
I didn't hesitate and pressed the call button.
I was terrified that if I hesitated for even a second, Alaric might actually fall for me.
