I turned back, confused. "What?"
Alaric stood, towering over me by a head, his very presence exuding a certain pressure.
He looked down at me:
"Aren't you just waiting to see me in disgrace, hoping I'll be cornered and then accept your charity?"
I fell silent for a long while, finally managing to utter three words: "You're insane."
He sneered, clearly thinking I was just putting on a tough front, and extended his hand to me, as though offering me some kind of favor. "Give it to me."
I frowned. "What?"
"The card, of course. Isn't that why you're here, to deliver the bank card?"
He paused, and with a more mocking tone, added:
"Don't tell me you're just here by coincidence. Dolors, I know exactly what kind of person you are."
I was stunned.
Who wrote this original novel?
Was the male lead's worldview really this warped?
"No, bro, let me make this clear."
I clutched my little bag protectively, looking at him as if he were a highway robber.
"We might be wealthy, but I'm not stupid. My parents donate a lot every year, but I've never seen a person who's been supported speak to their benefactor in this condescending tone."
"Yes, your situation is pitiful, but that doesn't mean you should bite anyone who comes near, like a rabid dog. And speaking of which, I've never treated you badly. When I liked you before, I gave you food and drinks without a word, even when others called me a 'puppy,' but I kept quiet. After all, I'm the eldest daughter of my family. Is it necessary for you to treat me like I owe you something?"
"Are you just bitter about the rich?"
Alaric looked at me coldly.
Well, I knew it.
I must have been talking to a brick wall just now.
Sure enough, he sneered coldly:
"Just because you have money, does that mean you can do whatever you want and humiliate others? Dolors, you've never understood me, and you don't even realize how repulsive you are."
Me: "..."
"Fine. Since you hate me so much, you can hate my money along with me."
As soon as I spoke, the elevator doors opened behind me.
A heart-wrenching, resentful voice came through:
"Dolors, stop bullying Alaric!"
The next second, I was forcefully shoved from behind and slammed into the wall.
