In fact, I gained weight after I became ill.
Before I turned fifteen, I was slim and had studied ballet for seven years.
My dance teacher said I had a lot of talent and took me to many competitions, where I always won awards.
The competition when I was fourteen was the last time I stood on stage.
The photo was taken by the event organizers, and I never backed it up.
But my memory is good, and once I've seen something, I don't forget it.
Where did Zach get that photo from?
And why did he set it as his wallpaper?
Didn't he recognize me?
---
All these questions were swirling in my mind.
By the time I snapped back to reality, Zach had finished.
As he turned, his gaze fell on me.
Seeing me staring at him, he frowned in displeasure.
He really didn't recognize me.
But then he called out to me at the office door:
"I've heard the rumors. I mean you no harm, but this classmate, there's absolutely no way I could like you."
"..."
He pressed his lips together, his gaze assessing me critically, like a thorn:
"Since you're a girl, I'll kindly remind you: instead of writing love essays, how about focusing on losing weight? No boy would like a body full of fat."
I've heard too many things like this over the past two years. I've grown numb to it.
Compared to that, I was more concerned about the photo. "Zach, where did you get that wallpaper?"
Out of selfishness, I didn't reveal that it was my photo.
The fourteen-year-old me and the current me are separated by a vast chasm.
That was the best version of me.
Even I am ashamed to face her.
Zach, however, was wary, "Did you sneak a look at my phone?"
His gaze grew more disgusted, and his tone became impatient:
"Even if you're jealous, you can't compare to her. You'd better mind your own business."
