Before the school's sports day, our class was distributing uniforms. Mine was at the very bottom of the pile.
After everyone else received theirs, the class president finally pulled out mine and exaggeratedly shouted, "Whose XXXL uniform is this? Let me see..."
Someone from the back of the room chimed in, "Class monitor, it must be Frostie's, obviously."
"Yeah, who else in our class is as fat as her?"
"Pigs are cuter than her, honestly. Just looking at all that blubber ruins my appetite."
I silently took the uniform, gripping it tightly as my eyes stung with unshed tears.
---
When I was in my last year of middle school, I fell ill.
The doctor told me I'd need to take medication for the next two years.
The medicine had steroids, which made my body uncontrollably swell like a balloon.
Because of this, I gave up ballet.
The shame made me quiet and timid.
It even led me to bury the faint feelings I once had for someone.
But those feelings were discovered anyway.
---
One day between classes, my bag accidentally spilled onto the floor, scattering my belongings.
Standing on the podium, the prettiest girl in class picked up my diary and began reading aloud:
"Saw Zach today. He seems taller now and even more dazzling. I feel like I'm falling behind..."
I had written that during my first year of high school.
Although my feelings for him were fuzzy now, the humiliation of having my privacy exposed made my blood boil.
I stormed forward and snatched the diary out of her hands.
But my classmates surrounded me.
"Fat pig, how dare you lust after the school heartthrob?"
"Everyone knows he's into someone else. Even if you threw yourself at him, you'd only make him nauseous."
"Really disgusting."
Just then, Zach passed by our class.
The class beauty blocked the doorway and loudly said, "Hey, this girl likes you."
Zach followed her pointed finger and looked at me.
I lowered my head, wishing I could curl up my 180-pound body and disappear.
The class beauty smirked. "What do you think? Pretty disgusting, right?"
Zach withdrew his gaze and walked away, "Yeah, pretty disgusting."
