Chapter 16

　　Cyrus worked quickly.
　　In just three days, he transferred Kart's assets to his father's name.
　　Cyrus handed me the new contract. "According to the law, he won't get a penny from the assets in the future, and he will no longer have any relation to you."
　　I felt a mixture of emotions, but surprisingly, relief was the most prominent.
　　"Alright, thank you."
　　"You're welcome." Cyrus stared at me for a few seconds before suddenly asking, with no preamble, "In the future, you'll be alone. Don't you want to build a new family?"
　　I didn't respond immediately, but blurted out, "How can I be alone? I still have Amily."
　　Cyrus smiled.
　　It wasn't the subtle smile from last time, with his lips pressed together.
　　This time, his smile was somewhat enticing: "What I mean is, would you want to build a new family with me and Amily?"
　　His voice was low and resolute, like a heavy stone thrown into water.
　　My mind buzzed.
　　When I divorced my ex, I had resolved to never remarry and focus on raising Kart.
　　But now, with Kart out of my life, I found myself without a sense of purpose.
　　Perhaps... I should really consider starting a new family?
　　Seeing me frown, Cyrus withdrew his gaze. "No need to answer right away. Take your time and think it over."
　　Marriage is a big decision, after all.
　　I nodded. "Okay."
　　A few days later, after my assistant finished reporting work, she mentioned something else:
　　"Mrs. Ashwood, Karen is fighting with Mr. Ashwood over a divorce."
　　I took a sip of water. "So?"
　　"After you had her sent to the police station, she realized you had truly made up your mind to cut ties with both father and son. Her hopes of relying on Kart were shattered. She realized she couldn't get a penny from you, so now she's demanding his husband pay her for the years of emotional damages."
　　A mocking smile spread across my face as I pulled a file from under my desk and said to my assistant:
　　"Take this to mt ex and add some more fuel to the fire of their marriage."
