Chapter 15

　　Kart turned around, and when he saw Cyrus, his face changed. "Mr. Ravenhood?!"
　　Cyrus was one of the top tycoons in the city, so Kart naturally knew him.
　　Amily walked alongside Cyrus and came up to me, linking her arm with mine:
　　"Mrs. Ashwood, my dad saw that you hadn't arrived yet, so he came out to check."
　　"Dad?!" Kart's shocked gaze flicked back and forth between Cyrus and Amily, incredulous. "Mr. Ravenhood is your dad?"
　　I nodded. "Yes."
　　Kart's face turned pale instantly. "Why didn't you tell me about this earlier?"
　　I found it amusing. "We only just found out, and besides, what does this have to do with you?"
　　Kart gritted his teeth. "If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have broken up with her..."
　　It seemed that he realized his own words were slapping him in the face, and Kart fell silent.
　　But I understood what he meant.
　　I mockingly retorted, "Wasn't your relationship with Velvet true love?"
　　Kart's face turned even paler.
　　As his mother, how could I not know that part of the reason he was so obsessed with Velvet was to defy me and deliberately provoke me?
　　There's no such thing as true love in most cases.
　　People are creatures driven by self-interest.
　　"Alright, let's go inside," I said, pulling Amily's hand.
　　Kart, however, remained persistent: "Mom, just give me the money, I promise I'll listen to you from now on, alright?"
　　My gaze met Cyrus's.
　　He understood and nodded at me, then said to the security guard beside him, "Get him out of here."
　　Kart jumped up, furious, cursing loudly. Kart panicked and shouted angrily, "What do you think you are, Cyrus? What right do you have to interfere with my Ashwood family's affairs!"
　　However, he couldn't fight against the security guards.
　　As the shouting grew fainter, I pressed my temples in frustration.
　　"Are you troubled?" Cyrus asked, looking down at me.
　　I nodded and sighed:
　　"I didn't expect Kart to be so deeply influenced by his father and stepmother, to the point that he's turned into this."
　　"Do you need me to help?"
　　I looked up and gasped.
