Kart refused to listen no matter what I said.
I had no choice but to focus on the group, planning to get them arrested before they succeeded.
However, before I could take any action, my ex-husband's current wife— Karen —suddenly came to see me.
And of all places, she chose to confront me at my company.
People were coming and going in the lobby, and she tearfully said to the receptionist:
"Please let me see your CEO. When she divorced, she took so much money, and now my husband is lying in the hospital with no money to pay for his treatment. How can she be so heartless!"
As more and more people gathered in the lobby, the receptionist's face turned bright red with anxiety.
"You can't see our CEO without an appointment."
"Is it that I can't see her, or is it that she is too scared to come out and face me?!" Karen raised her voice. "My husband is in the hospital, his life uncertain, while she's living in luxury. How can she live with herself?"
Before she could say anything more, the elevator doors opened, and I walked out with Amily, a cold expression on my face. "What's the problem?"
I scanned Karen briefly.
She wasn't particularly striking, and after all these years, the passage of time had only made her look more worn out.
Upon seeing me, she instinctively flinched.
But then seemed to gather herself and straightened her posture. "You finally came out. My husband is in the hospital and needs fifty thousand. Give me the money."
I sneered, then turned to the security guard who was staring at her in shock. "What are you waiting for? Get to work!"
The security guard stepped forward to grab her, but she suddenly threw herself onto the ground, throwing a tantrum.
"You heartless woman! You forced my husband to leave with nothing, and now you refuse to help him when he's dying! You'll get what's coming to you!"
"Slap—"
I slapped Karen across the face. She stared at me in shock, unable to make a sound.
I raised my voice. "Throw her out!"
"I dare you!"
Kart's voice suddenly rang out.
Then, he and Velvet hurriedly walked in, helped Karen off the floor, and said with concern:
"Don't worry, mom, I won't let her bully you."
The three of them stood together, united in hatred.
It seemed like I was the outsider.
