Jaydin landed a heavy punch on Clayton's face.
But Clayton wasn't the type to take a hit without retaliation.
The two of them exchanged blows, and soon both of their bodies and faces were marked with bruises.
Security rushed over and finally managed to separate them.
But the two men continued to glare at each other with fierce determination, neither willing to back down.
"Can we stop this now?"
I was both angry and anxious, my voice tinged with a sob.
Clayton's face was ashen: "Sonia, you saw it yourself, Jaydin threw the first punch."
"This isn't over between us today."
"Yes, he did start it, Mr. Moss, I'll have him apologize to you."
"Whatever resolution you seek, we'll cooperate."
"Sonia, it was clearly him who spoke out of line first..." Jaydin immediately grew anxious. "Jaydin..."
I gently pressed down on Jaydin's hand and spoke calmly again: "Mr. Moss, I apologize to you on Jaydin's behalf."
"Sonia, are you really going to protect him like this?"
Clayton took a slow step forward: "He hit me first, Sonia."
"So how do you want to resolve this?"
"Sonia, I'm hurt."
Clayton pointed to his face: "Do you see this injury? It really hurts..."
I glanced at it and calmly said, "Then I'll call an ambulance for you. We'll cover all the expenses."
"Sonia, you know that's not what I want."
Clayton tried to grab me, but I stepped aside to avoid him.
"Sonia..."
All the emotions Clayton had been holding onto shattered on his face.
He looked at me with a sorrowful expression.
But deep down, I felt nothing for him anymore.
Suddenly, Jaydin winced in pain: "Sonia, do you think I'm going to be disfigured?"
I quickly turned around to see the man in front of me, his lip was split, and his eye was swollen,
Blood was smeared on his chin, making him look quite frightening.
I grabbed a tissue and started to gently wipe his face.
"Ouch... Sonia, be gentle, be gentle...," Jaydin winced dramatically.
"Serves you right." I scolded him softly, but still, my hands moved more tenderly.
"You need stitches at the hospital."
"Then you have to come with me, I'm scared of needles."
I couldn't help but glare at him, but I nodded anyway.
I had just hung up the phone when Jaydin wrapped his arms around me from behind. Jaydin pulled me into his arms: "And I need a kiss here, it hurts like hell."
I slowly stood on my tiptoes and gently placed a kiss on his wound.
Clayton didn't say another word.
The setting sun quietly stretched his shadow long.
Maybe it was the moment when Sonia was wiping the blood off Jaydin's face.
Or maybe it was when Sonia comforted Jaydin with a kiss.
Only then did he finally realize that Sonia truly no longer loved him.
That question from Evelyn on that day had unexpectedly become reality.
Sonia wasn't coming back to him.
He had thought that he could easily let go of their seven-year relationship.
He had believed that he was the one in control of their relationship.
He had assumed he would always have the upper hand.
But at this moment, he finally understood.
The one who couldn't let go was him, Clayton.
Sonia is the thread that leads the kite. If the thread breaks, the kite will lose direction and never be able to return home.
