During the two days Kira was in the hospital, Orion was constantly busy, running back and forth. He couldn't leave things at the company, so he handled documents in the hospital room and made phone calls in the hallway to avoid disturbing Kira's rest.
In those two days, he had visibly lost weight. The woman in the bed next to Kira smiled and said, "Your husband is very nice."
Kira smiled back at her but didn't say anything.
Fainting wasn't that serious, but because of the unstable pregnancy, the doctor suggested Kira stay in the hospital and receive some injections to stabilize the fetus. Each cycle lasted a week, and after a week, Kira insisted on being discharged.
The night she returned home, Kira first went to her room and took out their marriage certificate.
In the past few days, she had received many messages—from her parents, Alfred, and even some old college friends she used to be close with...
Kira felt like she had failed as a person to such an extent that everyone was speaking up for Orion. Everyone was urging her to think of the child, and even her husband's mistress was defending him and apologizing to her. It made her seem like an unreasonable, relentless shrew.
She still felt like discovering Orion's infidelity and everything that followed had been a dream, but the sight of a remorseful Orion standing in front of her constantly reminded her that this wasn't a dream.
"I'm begging you, Sweetie. I've never begged anyone in my life, but I'm begging you, don't give me a death sentence, don't just end everything for me with one blow."
He clutched his hair in anguish, his voice cracking with tears as he pleaded desperately, "Give me one more chance. I still want to be our child's father. There are so many places we haven't been together, so many things we haven't done yet. I want to spend so many more years with you. Please, Sweetie, just give me one more chance, okay?"
By the time he finished, Orion was choking on his words. He kept his head down, so Kira couldn't see his expression, but she felt his tears dripping onto her hand.
In Kira's mind, a voice of reason was screaming: He cheated! He cheated, and you still want him? He betrayed you! He betrayed your love!
But what surfaced in her mind were the memories they had shared over the years—his adoring smile as he looked at her, how he nervously kissed the wrong spot the first time he kissed her, buying a house together, picking out furniture, how he always put extra scallions in her food when they ate together...
They had so many memories, and Kira looked down at her belly. They still had a child together.
