She woke up early the next day, and when she turned on her phone, she found a barrage of missed calls and voice messages, along with a series of explanations and apologies from Orion on the phone, going into great detail about the accidental nature of the incident, describing it as an act of God.
Alfred also sent a string of messages to support Orion's explanation, urging her to respond, telling her that Orion was nearly losing his mind trying to reach her.
Then, as soon as her phone was turned on, her mother called. She answered this one. Her parents, as expected, advised her to reconcile with Orion, saying things like, "What man doesn't stray?" They acknowledged Orion's fault but downplayed it, stressing that it wasn't a major mistake, especially since she was pregnant... She remained silent, just as she had been when they advised her to break up with Orion.
There was a buffet restaurant upstairs in the hotel. She got up to eat breakfast, ordered takeout for lunch, and had the buffet again for dinner. She stayed in the hotel all day, not even checking her phone. When she wasn't eating, she either stayed curled up in bed watching unfunny sitcoms or slept.
On the third day, when she woke up, Kira stared at the ceiling for a while, then after washing up, she went to Orion's company. Orion wasn't at work that day, but Alfred was there, bustling around.
Alfred trailed closely behind her, sneaking glances at his phone to send messages from time to time.
She went to HR, found Carina's temporary address, took a picture of it, and then left the company directly.
"Kira, Kira, please listen to me..." Alfred had been trying to say something in the crowded office but hesitated. It wasn't until Kira left that he ran out, panting, to catch up with her.
He hung his head, his brows furrowed tightly. "Kira, this really isn't Orion's fault. That day, we were all just too drunk, everyone was woozy. You know Carina had a thing for Orion, right? We were just joking around when we asked her to take him back to his room. But then we all got too wasted and forgot about it, and this mess happened…"
"But, Kira, you, Orion, and I have known each other for over ten years. I see things clearly—Orion's always had you in his heart. He loves you. He just accidentally slept with Carina. Who knows? Maybe she even seduced him in the room. It's not impossible…"
And, Kira, don't get upset at me for saying this, but… you're already three months pregnant…"
"But! But!" Alfred raised his voice. "Orion really, really, really only has you in his heart. He truly loves you."
Kira stared at Alfred without saying a word. She really, really wanted to ask him, "Why, knowing Orion was already married, could they still joke about setting him up with that girl? Does being drunk excuse cheating? Even if the girl did seduce him, who gave her the chance? Didn't Orion have the right to refuse?"
"I risk my life to have his child, and he sleeps with someone else while I'm pregnant, and now you're here blaming me for making a fuss after he cheated? And then, after Orion cheats a second time, sober this time, you still tell me he loves me?"
Kira was too tired to be angry anymore. She turned around, no longer paying attention to the babbling Alfred. Right now, all she wanted was to meet the girl named Carina.
