"Tell me what's going on."
In the study, grandfather sat across from us, exuding a strong sense of authority.
Luke rambled on. "Elise was my girlfriend in university, and we dated for five years."
"She saw that my brother was rich and climbed her way to him. She's clearly not a good person."
Finley didn't even lift his eyes, his tone mocking. "You're a good person, a real gem, cheating and playing both sides. How terrifying."
Luke choked. "You're being sarcastic!"
Finley raised his eyebrows, adopting an attitude of indifference.
Luke choked again. "Elise, you tell us!"
"Me?"
I shrank behind Finley, my eyes flickering as I stared at Luke. "What can I say?"
"I certainly can't repeat the things you said about your brother and grandfather…"
Luke's eyelids twitched. "Elise, you damn manipulative—"
I quickly retreated behind Finley and started the recording.
In Luke's glaring eyes, the phone recording began to play.
"The old coot has money to burn and likes to support poor students."
"Relying on my brother, our family will eventually die out."
At that moment, Luke's eyes were wide with shock.
He lunged at me. "Elise, you bitch! Playing dirty tricks on me."
"Enough!"
Grandfather struck Luke's knee with his cane in anger.
The cane snapped.
Luke cried out in pain as he fell in front of me.
"Grandfather, I was just drunk…"
Grandfather refused to hear his excuses, stomping his foot in anger. "Call the lawyer, draft a document, I want to cut ties with him!"
When Finley led me away, I "accidentally" stepped on Luke's arm.
A sharp scream echoed through the floor.
Finley put his arm around my shoulder. "Well, I'll take Elise home. She's shaken up and can barely walk."
Tonight, the family was destined for chaos.
Finley and I returned to our villa.
We didn't speak on the way.
As soon as we entered the house, Finley suddenly grabbed my waist and pinned me against the cabinet in the foyer.
The surroundings were pitch black.
There wasn't even time to turn on the lights.
"Is this your gift to me?"
Finley changed from his casual demeanor, his hand caressing my neck.
Under his fingertips, pulsing veins.
It was hard to say whether this was a caress or a hunt.
My heart rate suddenly accelerated.
"I said I wanted to repay you."
Tonight, Luke was removed from the list of heirs.
The inheritance rights were redistributed, with Finley as the biggest winner.
"When did Luke say those things?"
"Last week, when he was with Lila in the company restroom."
I explained, "I just wanted to record evidence to avoid him smearing me later. Who knew it would come in handy tonight."
Finley just looked at me solemnly, without a word.
Could it be that the commotion tonight caused him trouble?
I apologized out of habit. "I won't do it again—"
Before I could finish, I let out a short cry of surprise.
Finley lifted me onto the cabinet.
He supported himself on either side, trapping me within a small space.
He enveloped me in a confined space.
"The gift is nice, but I prefer something else."
"Something else?"
I was confused. "What else do you want?"
Finley's voice was low and husky as he kissed my ear. "How about finishing that song?"
His lips touched and then parted.
But they left behind his warmth.
It quickly turned into boiling water.
It tempted me to succumb to him.
Finley's breathing became deep and slow, like a wolf that had lain in wait for a long time.
And wolves are never lacking in patience.
"Mr. Hebert."
"Hmm?"
"You know I can't resist you."
"Then stop resisting."
"Will I be in trouble after singing?"
Finley picked me up and placed me on the sofa, methodically removing his watch.
"Probably, I won't even have a life left."
Bathed in the dim moonlight, I finally saw his appearance clearly.
In his dim eyes, there was a strong desire to possess.
Before I could react, Finley leaned in again and asked softly,
"Now, are you ready to continue?"
