Chapter 4

　　On this day, many significant events occurred.
　　First, Walker's people found Maya unconscious in an abandoned building.
　　In Maya's hand was a pearl.
　　Walker's pupils contracted when he saw it.
　　He recognized the pearl.
　　On the anniversary of their marriage a year ago, he bought a gift for Annie, considering the face of both the Lin and Petty families.
　　It was a dress handmade by an famous designer over three years, adorned with intricate embroidery, each pearl on it priceless.
　　The pearl in Maya's hand was from that dress.
　　"President Lin, could it really be that Madam sent someone to do this..." the assistant murmured beside him.
　　Everyone knew that the Lin and Petty families were merely a business marriage, but Annie loved Walker obsessively.
　　Jealousy in a woman can be terrifying. Annie, seeing Walker's coldness towards her and his kindness towards Maya, couldn't help but act against Maya.
　　Walker closed his eyes briefly. "Let's go to the hospital first."
　　On the way, Maya woke up.
　　When she realized it was Walker who had saved her, tears kept falling, wetting her white dress.
　　"Mr. Lin," she said, "I'm very grateful for everything you've done for me, but we shouldn't meet again."
　　Walker spoke gently. "Don't be afraid. Who tied you up there? Did you see the kidnapper's face?"
　　Maya paused, then shook her head.
　　"No, I can't say."
　　She bit her lip, her eyes misty. "Mr. Lin, others say you hold all the power in F City, but only I know that you have many difficult circumstances you cannot avoid.
　　I understand the help the Petty family gives your career, so... there really shouldn't be any more conflicts between you and Mrs. Lin because of me."
　　Walker's hand tightened silently.
　　It was Annie.
　　It was actually Annie.
　　Initially, Walker still harbored a sliver of hope that Annie hadn't done this.
　　But now, that last shred of hope was shattered.
　　Maya observed Walker's expression.
　　With tears in her eyes, she timidly said, "Mr. Lin, please don't blame Mrs. Lin.
　　She did this because she loves you so much..."
　　At that moment, the phone rang.
　　Walker barely contained his anger. "Hello."
