After Aurora's death, I went to her apartment.
In her drawer, I found some diaries.
I finished them with tear.
Aurora grew up in a household where boys were favored over girls.
When she was born, her father was visibly displeased, asking her mother, "Why did you give birth to a girl?"
Her mother, a traditional homemaker, dared not speak her anger to her husband and even resented that she wasn't a boy.
There was no one at home who loved her, and her name was given rather haphazardly.
In the day she was born, there was a rainbow in the sky.
The rainbow were flickering as aurora
Her father pointed casually at the sky above their house and said, "Let's call her Aurora."
Aurora.
A name was given informally by a glance.
Aurora's father drove a taxi in the other city and often lived apart from her mother.
When her father didn't return home for the Christmas for several consecutive years,
her mother took her to the city.
"Your father has someone else outside. You must stay with me and keep an eye on him."
Her mother refused to divorce the father.
He hit and he yelled, but having no other choice, he allowed her and her mother to live with him.
Fortunately, Aurora excelled academically and soon enrolled in a good school.
That was where she met Zane.
In 2013, Aurora transferred to a high school in City B.
Zane was her classmate.
He was handsome, from a good family background, and a popular figure at school.
Aurora was not good at socializing, somewhat insecure, and spent her breaks writing in a notebook.
They were like two parallel lines that would never intersect, each on its own path.
But Zane was the class monitor.
He insisted on helping Aurora integrate into the new school life.
Often under the banner of "helping classmates, it's the class president's duty," he helped Aurora solve various problems.
He also said that Aurora's name was very nice.
He taught Aurora to become more confident.
As they became more familiar with each other,
Zane teased Aurora into calling him "Boss."
Aurora felt awkward and refused to call him that.
Zane's friends sitting nearby joked, "Just call him like that, it's not like he's making you call him dear."
That day, Aurora's heart was pounding wildly.
She sneakily glanced at Zane and noticed that his face was also flushed.
From then on, she clearly sensed that something had changed between her and Zane.
Zane would bring her breakfast.
Accompany her on runs.
Help her improve her grade.
Together, they would stargaze and make wishes.
They agreed to attend the same university.
But neither of them exposed the vague feelings of favor.
Until the day holiday began.
Zane handed her a love letter.
"Aurora, can you deliver this to others for me?"
"Sure."
She took the letter and, without asking, ran the errand for him.
She cried all the way while running the errand, but Zane didn't know.
Aurora ignored Zane throughout the entire holiday.
This led to Zane confronting her angrily after the semester resumed.
Why she was ignoring him.
Aurora thought to herself: Since you have someone you like, I'm keeping a distance from you, and I'm right to do so.
I felt a bit melancholic, wondering how the fiercely proud Aurora later forced herself to become Zane's personal secretary.
That day, Zane was so angry he was practically jumping.
That evening, he forcibly stopped Aurora downstairs from the dormitory.
Then, he apologized in a humble tone:
"Aurora, if you're angry, you can beat me, but please don't ignore me, okay?"
Aurora saw the usually arrogant Zane, now humbled to the point of being in the dust.
She inexplicably teared up.
She muttered softly:
"That time, I didn't want to deliver the love letter for you."
Zane then realized what his beloved girl was feeling.
He immediately refuted, saying that the letter was written by his friend.
He also said that his friend had suggested that if Aurora delivered the letter, he could tell whether or not she liked him.
It ended up making Aurora angry.
He was full of regret and, after a while, finally realized something was amiss.
He stared at Aurora and asked, "Aurora, were you jealous?"
At that moment, his eyes shone like stars in the sky.
No one could bear to lie to those stars.
So, Aurora nodded in acknowledgment.
Zane was so excited that he was almost babbling, raising his hand and not knowing where to put it, eventually resting it on her head.
He gently told her:
"Hello, my girlfriend."
After returning to the dormitory, Aurora splashed cold water on her face repeatedly, but her cheeks remained burning hot.
That night, she had a boyfriend.
