During dinner, Tiffany casually inquired about when Jayson would be back.
I stuffed a mouthful of vegetables. "The project is wrapping up, he'll be back soon."
Tiffany's hand paused as she held the bowl.
On the surface, she remained composed, but inside, she was ecstatic: "Haha, finally, Jay is coming back. Tonight, I'm going to win him over."
Tiffany was very confident.
And her confidence came from the medicine she had bought.
But how could I let my dear husband take the medicine?
So, I deliberately let her know, "Mom, the company has arranged a sudden business trip. I'll have to pack and head to the airport after dinner."
Mama was slightly surprised.
After all, I never went on business trips.
I winked at her, and my mom-in-law understood without saying a word.
She also reminded me to be careful on the road.
Seeing that the time was right, I got up and went to the room to pack clothes.
Tiffany squeezed in, unusually enthusiastic: "Denise, my baby is asleep. I'm just idling around anyway, let me help you pack."
I didn't refuse her and moved aside a bit.
Then her inner voice sounded: "This is heaven helping me. Once I get Jay, I'll make him kick that woman Denise to the curb."
The business trip was just a ruse.
I pretended to pack some items in the suitcase.
I left under Tiffany's eager gaze.
It was still snowing outside.
I didn't go far, just found a nearby café.
An hour later, when Jayson arrived home and Tiffany rushed to take a shower, mama sent me a text message.
I slowly curved my lips upward.
we're about to reel them in.
I left the suitcase with the café owner and ran home through the snow.
Mama claimed a headache and went to bed early.
Jayson had stayed in his room since returning and hadn't come out.
At that moment.
Tiffany realized the moment had arrived.
It was the middle of winter, and she wore only a few scraps of fabric. Before leaving her room, she carefully checked the situation, and once she was sure no one was around, she quickly slipped into the kitchen.
When she came out, she had a cup of milk in her hand.
She twisted her hips confidently and knocked on Jayson's door.
The door opened as soon as she touched it.
She was delighted beyond expectation, straightened her chest, and pushed the door open.
Mama and I watched the entire process from the room.
Mama was so angry she couldn't speak a word.
When I first told mama about Tiffany giving the baby cold-water baths, she was skeptical.
In her view, a child was flesh from one's own body.
Even a tiger wouldn't eat its own cubs.
No matter how ruthless a mother might be, she couldn't harm her own child.
Now that she had seen Tiffany's actions with her own eyes, my mother-in-law believed it completely.
"Jayson isn't in the room. Tiffany will notice something's wrong and come out. Let's go over there!"
I reminded mama, who was still seething with anger.
Without catching her in the act, Tiffany wouldn't admit it.
Mama snapped out of it and stormed out. "Bringing a wolf into the house. Today, I'm going to kick her out."
