This shameless wolf settled down in my house.
I'm not sure who taught him these tricks, but he started lowering his "werewolf" pride and trying to please that Labrador.
Dog toys, dog food, dog snacks... he even remembered to make a cup of goat milk for the dog. Not to mention how they communicate perfectly.
When I got home, I saw the wolf and the dog curled up together on the couch, watching TV and eating potato chips. I felt like the whole world had turned into a surreal fantasy.
"Edmund!"
I said with a complicated look: "Dogs can't eat potato chips."
"They can," he said, shifting back into his human form and holding up the bag of chips to show me. On it were two bold characters:
Dog Chips.
"Baby, people can eat them too. Want to try?"
I paused, then sincerely asked him: "Mr. Edmund, don't you need to work?"
"A big company, and you're here doing nothing every day... isn't that a problem?"
"Werewolves in mating season don't need to work."
He sensed my displeasure but didn't understand what he had done wrong. He put the chips down, his ears drooping, and quietly said:
"My brother will handle the work for me these days. He said my task is to get through the mating season well, and bring my partner home."
His brother, the eldest son of the prestigious Montague family, often seen in the public eye.
"He's also a wolf... no, a werewolf?"
I felt my world view shatter and asked with difficulty:
"So the whole Montague family...?"
"Only me, my brother, and my sister," he said quietly.
"Our mother is a werewolf, so all three of us are."
"Werewolf genes are very strong. If I have cubs with you, they'll be werewolves too."
He pressed his lips together and went to the kitchen to bring out a plate of strawberry cake, offering it to me with a smile: "Baby, please don't be angry. I made you a delicious cake."
"I had them add extra strawberries, all airfreighted in, the freshest. Try it."
I hesitated for a moment as I looked at his hopeful face, then picked up the fork beside me.
Just then, my phone rang. It was my boss.
He said there was a project that needed to be discussed and I had to go back to the office immediately, with overtime pay. I replied "Okay," hung up, and saw the werewolf's face fall in disappointment.
"I made a whole table of dishes, all your favorites... didn't you have time to eat?"
"It's fine, your work is important. Baby, you go ahead! I support you."
"I'll always be your backbone. No matter when you turn around, you'll see me there!"
I choked up a little, unsure of what to say.
This guy must have learned these tricks from someone.
The proud, aloof stubborn wolf had somehow transformed into a sincere, considerate good-acting wolf.
"You don't need to do this," I sighed.
"It's just a meeting. I'll be back soon. Leave the food, I'll eat when I return." I picked a strawberry off the cake and popped it into my mouth, adding:
"The strawberries are really sweet. Thank you."
