Jayson stared at her chest, unmoving. Maci, desperate, grabbed his hand and placed it on her chest, saying in a soft, seductive voice, "Sir..." Her voice was incredibly alluring, as if she knew exactly how to tempt men, almost like a natural seductress.
Jayson tilted his head and gave her a wicked smile, still not moving.
Maci didn't understand Jayson's meaning and continued to wait for his instructions.
"Your chest is too big for your frame. Did you have work done?" Jayson said with a mischievous smile.
Maci felt awkward and couldn't find the words to respond.
"I don't like fake things, but maybe other men might accept it."
"It's real! If you don't believe me, feel for yourself!" Maci argued, pushing her chest forward.
"...No thanks." Jayson released her hand, "Your approach is too direct. A smart girl should use a little strategy to catch a man. Maybe you should find a mentor to learn from?" With that, he put his hands in his pockets and turned to leave the room, leaving a humiliated Maci behind. The waiter who had been guarding the door to their room was surprised to see Jayson come out so soon. Jayson didn't even glance at him but left a remark, "Don't make things worse," and walked toward his office floor. Back in his office, the manager immediately entered and told him that Sidney was waiting in the lobby on the first floor. Should he invite her upstairs?
Jayson replied, "No need to hurry. She can wait."
Sidney, wearing a shirt and jeans, sat in the same spot at Opal Lounge where she had waited for Jayson last time. She felt completely out of place among the people in the shop. The staff, being observant, naturally knew who she was, but they only watched her from afar, not daring to approach.
When she arrived, she had told the lobby staff that she was looking for Jayson, but after waiting for almost an hour, there was still no sign of him. She knew Jayson was doing it on purpose. He had no reason to meet with her today, especially since she was the one asking for something, and her request was unreasonable.
After Sanaa caused a scene at the Jayson's place earlier in the day, she had been unable to get in touch with Jayson. As time grew increasingly tight, she was frantic and called Sidney. Initially, Sidney had stuck to her principles, saying she couldn't help. She couldn't even speak properly in front of Jayson. However, to her surprise, it was the Shelby who called her personally. Sidney had always feared the matriarch. Hearing her cold voice, she was ordered to immediately find Jayson and help Sanaa win the bid. Sidney had no choice but to agree. She promised to try again, but whether it would succeed still depended on Jayson himself. Shelby insisted that Sidney fulfill this request, stating that failure was not an option. It was the biggest task she had as a member of the Nixon family.
Sidney knew very well that this was the real reason they had married her into the Nixon family—to use her to build a relationship with the family and become the Calderon family's backup. However, they didn't understand how Jayson viewed her. It wasn't a love marriage. From the very beginning, everyone knew what the arrangement was. Yet, they incomprehensibly pushed all the unresolved issues onto her, expecting her to solve them.
Sidney was feeling a headache. She had no choice but to go to Opal Lounge alone to ask to meet Jayson.
After waiting for almost an hour and a half, well into the late hours of the night, there was still no sign of Jayson. Sidney had no choice but to call Alondra, hoping that she would have time to pick up the phone.
The phone rang for a long time, but Alondra didn't answer.
Sidney knew this was the busiest time for Alondra at work, but she really had no other option. She kept dialing her number repeatedly.
Just when Sidney didn't know how many times she had dialed, she vaguely heard a familiar ringtone coming from a distance. The melody—bright and shimmering—was the ringtone Alondra had set for her as a joke back then. Sidney stood up and followed the sound, trying to locate its source. She couldn't find where it was coming from. She walked into the corridor near the elevator, where the ringtone seemed to get clearer, but she could only hear it and not see anyone. She walked deeper into the corridor, turning around. This corridor led to the emergency exit, and it was unlikely anyone would usually enter. The faintly dim green emergency exit light illuminated the space, and on the floor, a brightly colored Chanel bag reflected a pale, sickly green light. That was the source of the ringtone, but where was the person?
When Sidney hung up the phone, she heard a soft gasp. She quietly walked past the pillar, wearing her canvas shoes, and saw a man and a woman tightly embracing each other. The man's hand had slipped under the woman's short skirt, groping her chest, and they were kissing passionately, unable to pull away from each other. From the side, Sidney immediately recognized the woman as Alondra.
She froze for two seconds, then, recognizing the situation, quietly backed away to the corridor entrance, waiting in silence.
