They left the clothing store.
Eulalia couldn't help but speak up. "You promised that I'd buy you clothes, so why are you paying for my stuff?"
Inside the store, she couldn't say much with so many people watching.
Grey carried both of their shopping bags and walked ahead silently. "You buy for me, I'll buy for you. No problem."
Eulalia followed him, disgruntled. "What's 'no problem'? You... you're not..." She didn't say the words "no money" aloud, as even werewolves had their pride.
After returning home, Eulalia watched some TV and scrolled through her phone.
Grey seemed to have dug up some flowers and plants from a mountain somewhere. After getting her approval, he arranged a circle of flower pots on the balcony and was now focused on planting them.
Eulalia munched on some chips, leaning against the balcony door as she watched him.
She couldn't help but wonder to herself: Is this child really not yet twenty?
She popped a chip into her mouth, crunching loudly. "By the way, how much longer until you turn twenty?"
Grey: "Two months."
"Oh," Eulalia replied. "You're a few years younger than my lousy younger brother."
"Hmm."
"Do you think you can keep these plants alive?"
"Yes."
Eulalia couldn't help but ask, "Do you always talk so little?"
"What?" Grey, with his hands full of dirt, glanced at her, but his gray eyes quickly dropped down, no longer looking at her, as though he couldn't meet her gaze.
He wasn't used to getting so close to human women. He didn't know what to say to start a conversation, and he couldn't understand why this woman talked so much.
Anyway, he could silently listen. If she wanted him to say something, that was another matter.
"Forget it, it's nothing." Eulalia thought to herself, maybe there's a generation gap between she and this young werewolf. Maybe he talks a lot with his own pack?
She didn't want to be the nagging, annoying woman.
She turned around, yawned, and got ready to head to her room to work.
Watching her walk away, Grey froze for a moment, seemingly unsure of why she was leaving. Was she upset? Or did she find him too boring?
He lowered his gaze, pursed his lips, and continued silently planting the flowers.
Eulalia wasn't someone with a wide social circle either. As a full-time manga author, she spent her days finishing her drawings, taking care of her meals, and then spent the rest of her time watching TV, playing on her phone, or reading comics.
Grey wasn't the kind of wolf with a lively personality who would make noise. On the contrary, he was even quieter than Eulalia. Despite being almost 7.2 feet tall, he was slim but still a large presence, yet his sense of presence was surprisingly low.
At home, he was very quiet, mostly staying in his own room.
At first, they weren't very familiar with each other. They lived under the same roof like roommates, exchanging only a few words each day.
At first, Eulalia thought Grey was just being aloof and didn't want to talk to her. Later, she realized that was just his personality.
As time passed, she got used to it.
As they became more familiar with each other, she began to share her preferences, moods, and comic-related matters with him.
"This one's cute, right? I drew it," she said, pointing to a chibi character on her phone, sounding a bit proud.
Grey looked at the image of the round-faced, black-haired character on her phone. After two seconds, he said, "Is this... Alpha's cub?"
Eulalia had already known who he meant by "Alpha." She snapped her fingers. "Correct." She had already sent the picture to Catriona.
"Impressive," Grey said seriously.
Eulalia flipped to the next picture. It was a chibi version of a gray-haired boy with a spiky hairstyle and fierce eyes.
"Look, this one's you. Does it look like you?"
Grey froze, staring at the picture of himself. He didn't expect that Eulalia had drawn him... every stroke must have taken a lot of effort and time.
"Why... did you draw me?"
Eulalia sighed. "I draw everyone around me. If I have the ability, why not? It's a way of showing my feelings."
She paused for a moment before speaking, "So... you don't like it? I didn't ask for your opinion before drawing you..."
"No, I like it." Grey shook his head.
This was the first time he had ever been drawn.
What about her feelings?
"Thank you."
"It's nothing. I'll send it to your phone."
Grey's phone chimed, and he received the picture. He stared at the chibi version of himself for a while before asking, "In your eyes... are my eyes really like this?"
Was he really that fierce when he looked at her? Those weren't eyes at all—they were clearly two little blades...
"Hahaha, no, no, I just exaggerated a bit in the drawing," she laughed, trying to brush it off.
Grey made a sound of acknowledgment and saved the image.
Eulalia opened another album, full of screenshots, and with excitement in her eyes, she said, "Look, I received two long comments from readers today, they're praising me!"
Grey glanced at her screen and saw a few simple words he recognized, but his gaze still held a hint of confusion—there was an almost innocent, clear-headed foolishness to it.
"Ah, sorry, I forgot you don't recognize many words." Eulalia cleared her throat, not minding the trouble, "I'll read it out for you."
She raised her voice, full of emotion, her face expressive as she read out each word: "Dear Eulalia—by the way, my pen name is Eulalia, too... I'm a freshman in high school. I came across your comic by accident, and from then on, it became my daily joy, accompanying me through many long days... You've made me experience joy, anger, sadness, and moved me..."
After finishing, Eulalia exaggerated a sob and wiped away nonexistent tears from the corner of her eyes. "Ah... It's so touching, isn't it? These kids sure know how to express their feelings these days."
Grey:...
He opened his mouth, "Mm."
