When Sapphire saw Magnus's message, her heart fluttered uncontrollably. It was hard to forget, and despite trying to forget, her body wouldn't obey.
After politely replying, she pretended everything was fine and went to work.
In the following days, she didn't receive any more messages from Magnus, nor did she see him.
Sapphire...
Sapphire felt exhausted.
What was she waiting for?!
Perhaps it was because she knew he was at the Capital Administration Bureau, and she couldn't help but keep thinking about him.
When would he return back?
It would be better if he left Capital...
Sapphire thought to herself, something she had never considered before. Back then, she used to look forward to him coming to Capital every day, hoping to meet him...
Sapphire shook her head, trying to stop herself from thinking about it.
She bought chicken and went to the hospital to bring it to William.
"When my injury heals, I'll treat you to a big meal," William said, his mouth full of grease, showing no regard for his image, looking as if he hadn't eaten for days.
After finishing, he happily pulled out a card from his pocket. "Sapphire, this card is from Alpha Roderick. Guess how much is on it?"
Sapphire whispered, "Three million."
"Right!" William replied, "I'm twenty now, and Draven told me to save money properly for when I find a mate. So nice."
Sapphire smiled lightly. "I wish you the best. Do you have someone you like?"
William blushed and hummed in acknowledgment. "She's in the snow mountains. We grew up together. I promised to bring her a human woman's necklace next time I return."
Sapphire said with a hint of envy, "That's wonderful."
"What kind of werewolf is she?"
Admiration appeared in William's eyes. "She's so cool! So powerful! She's better at hunting than many werewolves. When we were kids, she even protected me." Saying this, William laughed. "I miss her so much. Next time I go back, I'll ask her to come down the mountain with me."
Sapphire: "She's really impressive!"
At the same time, her gaze slowly lowered.
She thought of her older sisters, who, just like the female werewolf William liked, were admired by many male werewolves, with many suitors.
It seemed like she had become strong too...
But she seemed to be naturally worthless, unable to become strong, whether physically or emotionally...
Walking out of the hospital, her phone rang. She looked down at it, stunned. She didn't know how much time had passed before the ringtone stopped, and the call ended.
The next second, the person called again. Sapphire stared at the phone, but still didn't answer.
Until it was hung up again, and the phone remained silent.
A drop of water fell onto the screen, followed by the second, then the third...
Sapphire covered her mouth, her shoulders trembling, quietly sobbing.
She was not strong, never ventured into the hunting grounds, her body frail, and her heart timid, prone to tears. For a werewolf like Magnus, it was only natural that he wouldn't like her. She only begged that he would leave her in peace...
When she arrived at the flower shop, she started working.
After work, she left the flower shop with her bag and saw a black car parked at the side of the road. Magnus was standing beside it, quietly watching her.
Sapphire froze for a moment, then looked away, preparing to walk off as if she hadn't seen him.
Magnus hadn't expected that, after ten days of not meeting and ignoring his calls, Sapphire would pretend not to see him.
His brow furrowed ever so slightly. He walked over, his voice steady and calming as always: "Sapphire"
Sapphire stood with her back to him, paused for a moment, but didn't turn around. Holding her bag, she murmured softly, "I'm off work."
Magnus pressed her mouth: "I need to talk to you."
"There's no need to say anything more. I'm doing fine now, so don't waste your time on me," Sapphire said, taking a few steps before stopping. "You don't need to contact me anymore. I'm an adult werewolf, not a cub. I can take care of myself. Thanks for everything in the past."
She gathered her courage and raised her voice a little, trembling. "Don't come looking for me anymore, and don't call either. Goodbye."
With that, she walked away briskly.
Magnus, after hearing this, silently followed her. "I've been busy at the bureau lately and haven't contacted you. Are you angry with me?"
"If it's because of this, I apologize. It's my fault."
Sapphire didn't expect him to say that, and she froze for a moment before quickening her pace. "No! It's not like that! You didn't do anything wrong, just go back."
Magnus wasn't used to being repeatedly chased away by Sapphire, and he had to follow her in order to talk. He didn't understand what was going on with this female werewolf.
She must be throwing a tantrum again. He hadn't seen her in days, so she was upset, just like before.
Sapphire had already crossed to the opposite side of the street. Magnus didn't want to chase her down the street. He took a deep breath, smelling the scent of William in the air. He decided to go to the hospital first, resolve that issue, and then head to Luna Palace.
He didn't think Sapphire would be interested in that brown-tailed werewolf, though he wasn't sure about William's intentions.
In the Hospital.
William saw Magnus and stammered, "Ma... Alpha Magnus, I never thought you'd actually come to see me."
Magnus glanced at him indifferently. "Unless something unexpected happens, Sapphire will be my mate."
"Oh, that's great."
Magnus observed his expression and realized that this werewolf didn't have any romantic intentions toward Sapphire. His tone grew more serious. "You're twenty years old now, right? Don't you have a good sense of smell? Or... do you think Sapphire is easy to take advantage of?"
William froze for a moment, then replied, "I just feel more comfortable this way. Sapphire never minded, so I..."
Magnus smiled faintly. "Do you think I would not care?"
