An unprecedented panic surged over him like a tide.
He couldn't imagine a day without his mother.
But... that werewolf was strong; he would protect his mother, wouldn't he? Didn't he say so?
He had said before, and he had promised.
After Roderick transformed into a pure wolf form, to him, he seemed as enormous as a giant vehicle. He could protect his mother, right?
In the midst of tearful confusion and a heart-wrenching pain, clinging to the thought that "perhaps Daddy is a hero" made him feel much better.
In fact, his daddy truly did.
His mother returned, unharmed and unbloodied.
He wouldn't become miserable.
Cedric clutched his mother's clothing, looking at Roderick with a serious yet childish voice. "Thank you, Daddy."
After five days of sticking to Catriona every minute, Cedric decided to give Roderick some time.
He thought, since his mother liked his father now and they were together, he should give them some private space.
That day, he was picked up by the blond uncle to play video games.
"Be careful, Cedric. Stay close to your uncle," Catriona warned anxiously, standing at the door watching them leave.
"Don't worry, Catriona. I'll take good care of the cub," Brigham waved at her as he left.
Catriona thought to herself that her son followed her around the hospital every day, which must be quite dull for him. Although she had noticed he wasn't as active as other kids, he was still at an age where he wanted to play.
Her little cub was still just a five-year-old baby.
A tender smile appeared in Catriona's eyes as she watched their figures disappear before she turned back to the hospital room.
Then, she suddenly paused.
Speaking of which, in the past few days, her son had stuck by her side without leaving for a moment. Even in the hospital room, feeding Roderick, helping him wash up, and talking to him, she was fine with it. But some uncomfortable feelings... she couldn't endure them.
Now her son had been taken away by his uncle.
And in the hospital room, it was only her and Roderick left.
Ah, this...
Catriona's body tensed slightly, a strange sense of unease creeping over her.
"Caddy, why are you standing by the door?" The man's deep voice urged her.
"Come here."
"Could it be..." Roderick's voice paused deliberately, "...Caddy, are you shy?"
Catriona's heart gave a jolt, and she stepped forward, her voice unintentionally rising. "Who's shy? What's there to be shy about? Hey, Roderick, stop joking. I don't get you. How did this even become about being shy? It's not like I haven't seen you before."
She pulled out the chair beside the hospital bed and sat down.
Roderick's narrow eyes curved with a smile. "Caddy gets shy and suddenly has so much to say."
"I've said I'm fine!!" Catriona tried to keep her expression neutral. "Aren't you seriously injured? The doctor said you need to rest. Just close your eyes and sleep!"
"I'm not tired," Roderick turned his head, his gaze fixed on her. "I want to see you more."
Catriona felt her face heat up, turning her gaze away awkwardly. "What's so special about me?"
"I really don't understand you," she said. She turned her face slightly, her skin pale with a hint of pink. The light from the window illuminated her, and he noticed the fine, soft hairs on her face. From that, he recognized the unique shyness of a woman and heard the playful reproach in her tone.
Lying on the hospital bed, Roderick felt numb all over, his head still a bit fuzzy. He couldn't shake the feeling that this wonderful reality was surreal.
He swallowed hard and sighed softly, "If this is a dream, I think I'd go crazy when I wake up."
Catriona paused at his words, slowly turning to look at him.
This silly wolf...
Did he really need to look so pitiful?
Well, considering he couldn't move at all except for his head, he was quite pitiful.
"I can't stand you," Catriona said, leaning down to plant a kiss on his forehead.
She straightened up.
She saw Roderick's amber eyes widen in surprise.
Clearing her throat, she said, "This isn't a dream! Understand?"
Roderick's eyes lit up, and he pressed his lips tightly together, controlling himself. If only he could move, he would pull her by the back of the head and press her into his arms, kissing her breathless!
Catriona...
She was too cute!
It was so unfair!
