"You really care about this pure human partner, huh?" The bearded fallen werewolf sneered. "Look at that monstrous physique of yours. You didn't take human enhancement drugs, did you?"
"If you dare charge at me, I'll bite through her neck."
"You rely on your size to gain the pack's loyalty, blocking our path. We may have lost, but don't think you'll get away with it!"
In the next second, his wolf claw pressed down on Catriona's arm, leaving a bloody scratch.
Catriona frowned, suppressing a cry of pain.
The bearded werewolf laughed. "Capital's Alpha, I'll make you break your own leg. Otherwise, my claw will continue..."
He didn't finish his sentence.
The massive black wolf let out a low growl and lunged forward, striking like lightning with an overwhelming ferocity that radiated from its body like a storm.
Its sharp claws dug deep into the scruff of the bearded man's neck, blood gushing forth.
Catriona didn't even have time to react; one moment she was standing there, and the next she was thrown backward by a sudden force, landing securely on the soft, furry back of the wolf—like a cozy, warm "single bed."
She was a bit dazed.
Her "single bed" jolted as it savagely bit into the werewolf below, refusing to let go even after the opponent had drawn his last breath, tearing him apart like a rag.
In the pitch-black night, the stench of blood filled the air, the sound of flesh tearing echoing, and droplets of blood sprayed onto her face like tiny raindrops.
Catriona snapped out of her daze, her eyes widening as she pictured the scene, gagging slightly.
In the darkness, Roderick stopped suddenly.
His eyes glowed green, his mouth full of blood.
"Ro... Roderick?"
Catriona lay on the massive, furry wolf, finding it hard to believe. This was the first time, while fully conscious, that she touched Roderick's pure wolf form.
It was frighteningly huge, almost monstrous!
"Cedric is with Draven, so he should be safe, right?"
The giant wolf she was riding let out a low growl and nodded.
It took a step forward, preparing to run.
Catriona quickly steadied herself, grabbing hold of his long fur.
The giant wolf dashed forth, the cold wind brushing against her face. Catriona could scarcely believe that one day she would find herself riding atop a colossal wolf.
Before long, he halted by a river nestled within a valley, dipping his wolfish face into the water, shaking it, and then lapping up a few mouthfuls.
Was he rinsing his mouth?
Just as Catriona pondered this, the giant wolf bent low, and she, half-dazed, dismounted from his back.
The wolf's head leaned in closer, trapping her beneath him, as he extended his tongue to sniff at the wound on her arm, gently licking it with a rhythmic tenderness.
"Ah..." Catriona gasped, furrowing her brow; a mixture of pain and an odd tickle surged through her.
"Roderick, you..."
The giant wolf growled, "Grr..."
After licking away the blood, the giant wolf's green-glowing eyes stared at the woman's pale, beautiful face in the moonlight.
In that instant, Catriona didn't know what came over her and covered her face with her hand. "Not here, no licking."
By the way, the pain in her arm had lessened significantly.
The giant wolf let out a disappointed whimper, then lowered himself so Catriona could climb on and sit properly.
The giant wolf started running again.
Under the moonlight, the giant wolf carried the woman in the white dress, running through the valley and deep grass, occasionally letting out howls that sounded quite joyful.
Catriona held tightly to the long fur, her face growing a bit hot.
She was wearing a nightgown! And now, riding on Roderick's back, there was only a layer of safety shorts between them.
With the bouncing and friction, her body started to react in an embarrassing way, her face reddening more. "Wait... wait! I want to get down!"
"Awoo?"
The black wolf came to a halt, bending low, and Catriona slid down from his smooth back. In the moonlight, she lowered her head, her face flushed like crimson.
The changes in her body were... truly mortifying! So awkward! Had she just been single too long? Lonely? After all, she was human, and she had needs.
Just because she didn't usually think about it didn't mean the need wasn't there.
Suddenly, the giant wolf's nose twitched, and he took a deep sniff, his eerie green eyes locking onto her.
His gaze drifted downward.
The giant wolf's sharp eyes narrowed slightly as he stepped closer, his massive head nearing her skirt.
Furious and embarrassed, Catriona reached out and pressed down on the black wolf's furry head, stammering, "What are you doing... Roderick! Don't think just because you're in wolf form you can... you can do whatever you want!"
"I don't want to ride on you anymore. I'll... I'll walk."
The giant wolf's green-glowing eyes remained fixed on her skirt, and he even stuck out his tongue, giving it a lick.
"Roderick!!" Catriona was both embarrassed and angry. "What about Cedric? We don't know how he's doing! Hurry back, stop fooling around!!"
The giant wolf lowered his head and let out a soft howl.
His cub was perfectly fine! Draven could certainly handle watching a cub.
But then he noticed Catriona's reddened eyes.
He transformed into an upright form, lifting Catriona horizontally into his arms. With a few powerful strides, he began to leap, weaving through the rugged terrain of the steep valley.
Catriona held onto him tightly.
She could hear Roderick's thunderous heartbeat and his deep, husky voice. "Just now... you reacted... to me."
Catriona's heart, which had just calmed down, began pounding again. She quickly interrupted, "I didn't!! I don't!! Focus on the road!"
"I smelled it."
Boom—
Catriona's face flushed bright red, her psychological defenses breaking. "Are you a dog with that nose? I don't want to talk to you! I'm just underdressed—why are you overthinking things!"
Roderick's voice was hoarse. "So... was riding on me... comfortable?"
Ahhhhhhh!!
Catriona was going crazy!
She wanted to find a hole to crawl into immediately!
She raised her hand and frantically covered the wolf's big mouth!
"Shut up! I told you to stop talking! Shut up!"
The werewolf's hot breath hit her hand, and she pulled it back as if scalded.
Roderick's current form... it was just like Grey's last time.
This big wolf mouth...
She didn't even want to look up at him now. Honestly, he looked pretty ugly like this.
Roderick stuck out his tongue and licked the spot on the corner of his mouth where Catriona's hand had touched.
Catriona...
Catriona was truly speechless.
"Why do you guys lick everything!"
Once they left their pure human form, they really were like actual beasts.
"We?" Roderick's voice dropped lower. "Who else... has licked you?"
"Of course, it's Cedric."
Only then did Roderick remain silent.
"Were you scared today? I'm sorry."
Hearing him say that, Catriona pressed her lips together. "It was... fine."
To be honest, when she was captured by that fallen wolf, she felt surprisingly calm, as if a sense of safety enveloped her—just like Roderick's presence.
He would save her.
This sense of security had somehow taken root in her heart.
The truth was, she wasn't overthinking it; Roderick truly could save her.
"You... are quite amazing," she praised him sincerely.
In that moment, she hadn't even reacted before he pounced from such a distance.
And his pure wolf form... why was it larger than all the other werewolves? She had thought Draven's pure wolf form was already big enough.
If she hadn't had alcohol that time, she wouldn't have dared to approach that werewolf who took up the entire bed.
Roderick sniffed.
Noticing the scent of fallen wolves clinging to her, he felt a twinge of displeasure. Unbeknownst to Catriona, he had marked her with his own scent.
Leaving a scent on a loved one was addictive.
And from this day on, other werewolves noticed that Catriona always carried Alpha Roderick's scent.
