The wicked fire in Milo's heart finally subsided, along with most of his suspicions.
He released her hand and helped her put on her windbreaker, "I sent your bodyguard back, wait for me a bit."
Averi remained cold, "No need, I'll ask the front desk to call a cab."
Thinking she was still upset, Milo didn't insist and silently escorted her to the door.
He treated Averi with more respect than he did his other girlfriends, so he wasn't sure what to say at times like this, given he had never genuinely tried to soothe a woman before.
"Goodbye," Averi said.
Milo suddenly pressed his hand on her shoulder, "Averi, give me some time."
Averi looked up in surprise, seeing his serious expression, which didn't seem fake.
She withdrew her gaze and gave a faint nod, her reaction ambiguous.
Milo didn't say anything more.
Having made a call, the lobby manager didn't arrange a taxi for Averi but instead dispatched the hotel car and driver.
Refusing further would have been excessive. Averi accepted his gesture and had the driver take her back to the office.
Jordan had already left, leaving Averi alone on the 18th floor. She signed her name briefly and leaned back on the sofa, closing her eyes to rest.
She hadn't returned to the office for work, just to prevent the driver from reporting back.
Pretending to be a jealous, angry girlfriend wasn't her forte, and as she picked up the phone, she wasn't sure if Milo would believe her act.
But… Milo's last words truly caught her off guard.
She didn't think he was lying; there was no need, and given Milo's character, he wouldn't stoop to such lies. She simply didn't believe he could change his ways. Wanting to change was one thing, actually changing was another.
Indulgence was as hard to quit as addiction.
Exhaling a long breath, Averi thought, who was she to judge Milo?
Standing up, she turned off the lights, found a spare car key in Jordan's drawer, and drove to that familiar yet strange address.
Twenty minutes later, she rang the doorbell of the Dallas apartment.
No one answered.
Averi smiled lightly, shook her head, turned around, and walked away.
I was so confused that I came here to find him.
Averi, what are you here to prove?
That's ridiculous.
As soon as she reached the elevator entrance, the door slowly opened.
Dallas walked out sweating profusely and stood still when he saw the woman outside the door.
After being stunned, his pupils darkened and he stared at her without blinking.
She hadn't changed clothes, her makeup was still perfect, and her hair was dry. Most importantly, at this very moment, she was standing at his doorstep.
A few hours ago, his observation ability, which was on the brink of collapse, has now become the source of his ecstasy.
His gaze was too hot, making Averi feel a little embarrassed.
She pursed her lips and asked in confusion, "Where have you been?"
It's early winter in J City, and the first snow has already fallen. In such weather, he was only wearing a T-shirt, yet he could still sweat all over his body, his collar and chest were transparent, and his exposed skin was emitting a faint steam.
Dallas said vaguely, "I went out for a lap." It wasn't just one lap, he ran for over two hours.
He didn't want to bring up the topic, so he paused and took her hand as he walked towards the apartment. I felt her hands turn cold and held them tighter.
His body temperature was already high, and after exercising, his palms became hot.
Averi curved her lips into a smile, her eyes glancing at him playfully. "So straightforward. Isn't this the moment where you're supposed to ask if I'd like to come in for a drink first?"
Dallas turned his head to look at her, with a look of helplessness in his eyes, and the underlying color was still scorching hot.
He crossed her ten fingers and then squeezed her hard.
Averi's footsteps paused slightly, her eyes lowered, and she smiled silently.
As soon as she walked in, Dallas stood in front of her and said in a low voice, "I'm sweating all over."
Averi looked at him calmly and said, "Hmm."
He refused and continued to block there, motionless.
After a pause of two seconds, Averi couldn't help but laugh and stepped forward to embrace the man's tight waist.
Dallas immediately hugged her back, tightly wrapped his arms around her, and pressed his sweaty forehead against her neck, dirtying her skin.
Averi deliberately leaned in to smell his neck and said with disgust, "It's all sweaty."
Dallas's spine stiffened, and he instinctively let go. Seeing her face smirking and her heart suddenly bulging like a balloon, he pulled the person back into his arms, lowered his head, and kissed her.
Averi also looked up and asked him to kiss.
Rubbing his lips a few times, he extended the tip of his tongue to test, and Averi parted his lips in sync, sending sweet hot air into Dallas' mouth one after another. He held back his longing in his heart, gently delved in, licked her teeth and mucous membrane, and finally stuck his small tongue to her, intertwining and scratching, gradually awakening her desire.
His beads of sweat dripped onto her cheeks and neckline, and Averi was surprised to find that she had no aversion at all.
They kissed from the door to the sofa, and at some point, they turned into Averi lying on top of Dallas, with one high-heeled shoe hanging on her feet and the other falling at the door.
Licking off the saliva on his lips, Averi gasped for breath and lifted his head, poking him in the chest: "Go take a shower, my clothes are almost sweaty from you."
With a coquettish tone, Dallas's lower abdomen tightened.
Raising his head and pecking at her lips, Dallas flipped over and sat up, obediently going to the bathroom to take a shower.
Averi had nothing to do and took out her laptop to watch a movie. Just as she started watching, Dallas appeared in the living room refreshed.
"That was a quick shower."
"Hmm." Dallas walked over and asked, "What are you looking at?"
"It's an old movie, just a classic romance. Have you seen it?"
"No."
Averi shrugged her hair and asked casually, "Do you want to watch it together."
"Okay."
Averi wrapped his arm around himself, fell into his chest, twisted his body, and found a comfortable position to lie down.
She exuded a feline-like laziness.
Dallas was moved and lowered his head to kiss her profile.
Averi paused the movie and looked into his eyes before softly saying, "We can do something else too."
Dallas stared at her for a moment before slipping off his shoes and settling onto the sofa behind her. He pressed his chest against her back, becoming a warm, human cushion. Wrapping an arm around her waist, he said in a low voice, "Let's watch a movie."
They have made a lot of love, but rarely have such peaceful and warm moments.
The warm body temperature spreads through Averi's back, and there is a unique fragrance of his soap.
Averi's nerves relaxed, and he didn't even know he was laughing. He leaned on his solid arm and focused on watching the movie.
