Dakota felt a jolt of electricity tingling her ears.
That electric current seemed to surge directly to her brain, causing a brief short circuit in her thoughts.
When she came back to her senses.
Dakota sensed something unusual and unfamiliar through the blanket...
She realized something, her face suddenly flushing bright red!
"No, no, no—I don't!"
Dakota wrapped herself tighter in the blanket but still felt thoroughly weak and helpless.
"Sleep, sleep, sleep!" She almost bit her tongue in her hurry, "We have to wake up early for work tomorrow!"
A light laugh echoed in her ear.
Curtis's sharp eyes twinkled with mischief; perhaps because of the laughter, they looked softer than usual, lacking their usual defiance.
He seemed to be teasing Dakota intentionally.
Even if he had a reaction, asking this question didn't mean he intended to do it; he just found Dakota's blushing face amusing and wanted to tease her.
But Dakota was being teased into a state of nervousness.
She had never experienced anything like this before, and previously she had thought the mood was right and things would naturally progress.
But she hadn't expected these interruptions.
Not only was everything a misunderstanding.
And it totally made her die of embarrassment.
Dakota just wished none of this had happened, rather than being repeatedly asked by Curtis, whispering in her ear—
"Do you still want to?"
"Do you still want to do it with me?"
The blanket seemed to be heating up, the lingering intimacy disrupting her breathing.
"I'm going to sleep now."
Dakota pulled the blanket up higher.
The soft, pink blanket covered her face, highlighting her rosy cheeks.
"Mmm," Curtis responded with a low laugh.
Even Dakota hadn't expected him to let her off so easily. Curtis merely reached out to ruffle her hair, "Sleep. I don't intend to touch you like this."
Dakota, hidden under the covers, was momentarily stunned.
She didn't quite understand why Curtis, despite needing a cold shower, still chose not to touch her.
But Curtis was serious about Dakota.
In front of love, restraint outweighs desire; he couldn't bear to violate the girl he loved.
preferred to wait until she was willing.
"Dakota." Curtis gazed at her with deep eyes, observing her still flushed and warm ears.
Dakota's breathing was rapid, "…Mm."
"Do you have time this weekend?" He whispered into her ear.
Dakota's brain was barely functioning; her response was almost automatic, "Yes."
"Hmm."
Curtis reached out to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear, "Would you like to go on a date with me alone?"
Dakota couldn't recall exactly how she ended up agreeing.
In her memory, only the vague intimacy of that night remained, along with the sensation of warmth and coolness as Curtis held her closely after his cold shower.
And the restrained kisses Curtis placed in her hair.
Even the next morning, when she met Curtis's gaze, there was an indescribable sense of intimacy.
And, they had unknowingly developed a routine where Curtis would drop Dakota off at work.
The little pink car was left at Whispering Pines.
Every day, Curtis would first drop Dakota off at Guo Bo, and then come pick her up when she finished work.
Every day, the passenger seat would be adorned with different flowers, showing a serious effort to court her.
It was just like young lovers in the throes of passion.
Finally, the weekend arrived.
It was the day Dakota had agreed to go on a date with Curtis alone.
