Dakota hadn't expected Curtis to come over.
Hearing his voice, she reluctantly turned to glance at him, "Who has time to be mad at you!"
Dakota didn't seem keen on talking to him.
Leaving just that remark, she proudly withdrew her gaze, stood on tiptoe, and played with the seawater and soft sand.
Curtis lifted the corner of his lip and chuckled lightly.
He stepped closer through the sand, his shirt billowing slightly in the sea breeze, adding to his carefree demeanor, "So you really are mad, then."
Dakota didn't bother responding to Curtis.
Actually, she wasn't sure if she was angry, but she felt a bit unsettled inside.
Even though the cool water lapped at her feet, she still felt the tingling sensation from where Curtis had touched her, as if it wouldn't wash away no matter what.
"Fine, don't talk to me."
Curtis raised an eyebrow slightly, "Then it seems no one will receive the gift I carefully prepared for a certain little mute."
"What gift?" Dakota suddenly turned her head.
Curtis had been about to turn away when he saw her eyes gleaming under the night sky.
Dakota lightly pursed her lips.
She realized she had spoken impulsively, but couldn't deny the excitement she felt at the mention of a gift.
So Dakota turned around.
She stood tall like a proud little swan, folding her hands behind her back, and lifted her chin to look at Curtis, "You really did prepare a gift for me?"
"Would I lie?" Curtis glanced at her sideways.
Dakota wasn't convinced, "When you introduce yourself as a human, aren't you lying?"
Because he's a puppy.
Curtis didn't bother arguing with Dakota, considering how much she liked him and had prepared a gift for him.
"So you really did prepare a gift, right?"
Dakota lifted her dress and hopped toward Curtis, "Quick, show me."
Curtis lazily beckoned her with his finger, "Then where's my gift?"
Dakota replied matter-of-factly, "I didn't prepare a gift for you."
"No?"
Curtis looked calm, "Alright, then I'll have your gift returned to you."
"No, no, no." Dakota immediately grabbed his sleeve.
She loved receiving gifts. It was her favorite thing. For the sake of the gift, she felt she could let past grievances slide.
Curtis lowered his eyelashes to look at her.
He saw Dakota lifting her face, blinking her starry eyes, "Gift for a gift, I'll prepare one for you."
Curtis couldn't help but let out a light tsk.
If Noe hadn't already snuck over to spill the beans, telling him that Dakota had actually prepared a gift and was holding it tightly in the passenger seat—
He probably thought that this heartless woman wasn't just shirking responsibility but was also too lazy to even bother getting a birthday gift
"Alright." Curtis's lips curved slightly.
After all, she cared so much about him, putting so much effort into it, holding onto his gift tightly on the way here.
Dakota immediately asked, "Then where's my gift?"
Curtis didn't speak.
He casually turned around, lifting his chin to gesture to the other side of the beach.
Dakota followed the direction of Curtis's gesture and saw, at the edge of the beach, a luxurious and exquisite fondant cake!
