When Rylee saw the divorce agreement brought by Lawyer Smith, he appeared calm on the outside, but inside, he was a storm of emotions.
It was his repeated broken promises that had completely disappointed her.
Rylee knew he hadn't handled things well. He wanted to explain to her, but while he was caught up with official duties, he went to see her in the middle of the night and couldn't bear to disturb her. He quietly left after cooking porridge for her.
Until he received the divorce papers.
He dropped everything to find her. It was impossible to explain over the phone; they had to meet in person to resolve things. Rylee didn't even want to wait in the house for her. He stood in the rain, wanting to see her the moment she got home. If Rhianna hadn't come back soon, he would have standed in the rain all night. As soon as he saw her, he grabbed her without hesitation.
Rylee had once thought that perhaps the best thing for both of them was to never see each other again.
But later, he realized he couldn't do it.
He did his utmost to protect her, but there were too many things he couldn't control, no matter how many times he tried.
Rylee thought he had long since become immune to feelings of defeat, but that divorce agreement shattered his illusion.
"Rylee……"
Rhianna looked at Rylee, unsure how long he had been standing in the rain. They were supposed to part ways peacefully, and she didn't want any more unpleasantness between them.
Seeing Rylee remain silent, Rhianna turned to get a towel for him, but as she turned, he embraced her from behind.
Though his clothes were soaked and cold, Rhianna could feel the heat radiating from Rylee's body.
Just like that day by the pool.
Rhianna knew her thoughts were straying.
"Don't leave me."
The five words spoken in his deep voice carried an indescribable sadness, as if she had left him countless times before.
But in the end, wasn't it Rylee who had been cold and distant?
"Rylee, behave yourself."
To Rhianna, it seemed like Rylee had something wrong with him.
"Rylee, I never thought you were a fickle person."
Rhianna wasn't sure what kind of mindset she had while saying this.
"I hope I haven't misjudged you." In the past, it was her fault for clinging to him despite knowing he had someone else in his heart.
Now, she chose to let go, so his affairs would have nothing to do with her
"You haven't misjudged me."
His heart had always been hers alone.
Rhianna thought her words had cleared Rylee's mind, but unexpectedly, he picked her up and carried her to the bedroom.
Rhianna's mind went blank. She couldn't understand why Rylee was at her door in the middle of the night, drenched from the rain, or where the sudden intimate atmosphere between them had come from.
Rylee placed her on the bed and looked at her. He made no further moves, only gently caressing her lips with his fingers.
So soft, so tender.
Both sets of her lips were incredibly tempting.
But Rylee only wanted to know one thing now.
"Tell me, what do I need to do to make you stay with me?"
Rhianna thought he was asking the wrong person. Maybe Rylee was rehearsing a confession for Arely, but why practice with his ex-wife?
Thinking this, Rhianna found herself caught between laughter and tears.
"Rylee, let's part on good terms. Since we're divorced, you shouldn't be here now," Rhianna said, trying to keep her voice calm.
"No, we're not divorced. I won't agree to it."
He hadn't signed?
Rhianna thought they were just a civil procedure away from finalizing everything.
"Please, please don't leave me," he begged, holding her.
It was a tone of humility that Rhianna had never heard from Rylee before.
