2nd. Season -
One month later, Carlyle walked out of the hospital, feeling much better than before. Dr. Coby assured her that her situation could be managed with medication alone, and set her next check-up for a month down the road.
After Carlyle left, Coby immediately called Lane to inform him about her recovery and to assure him.
Carlyle strolled down the street in high spirits, browsing the shops along the way. She absentmindedly ran her fingers through her long hair, thinking, "Finally, I don't need to wear a beanie anymore."
As she walked, she suddenly found herself in front of the bridal shop from two years ago.
Carlyle stopped in her tracks at the entrance of the shop, her eyes once again drawn to the wedding dress in the display case. How could it still be the same one she had tried on two years ago?
Two years had flown by, and you can’t step into the same river twice.
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably as she stood by the shop window, overcome with grief, her sobs echoing in the air.
All she had ever wanted was to be Lane's most beautiful bride, but fate had played a cruel joke on her.
At that moment, a shop assistant came out and, seeing Carlyle's sorrowful face, asked, "Miss, do you need any help?"
Carlyle looked at the assistant and asked excitedly, "Isn't this the same wedding dress from two years ago?"
"Miss, you have a great memory. This wedding dress was indeed displayed two years ago, but it's been so popular that we just couldn't take it down," the sales clerk said as she noticed Carlyle staring intently at the dress. "Miss, would you like to try it on?"
Carlyle looked at the clerk in disbelief and asked, "Can I really try it on?"
The assistant nodded and said, "Of course you can."
Lane quietly watched Carlyle walk into the bridal shop. He quickly parked the car and hurried inside.
As he entered the shop, just as the assistant was about to speak, Lane gestured for silence. He silently approached Carlyle from behind, and in front of them stood a large rectangular mirror.
When Carlyle looked up, she saw the once-familiar figure behind her in the mirror.
Their eyes locked, unable to look away from each other.
Suddenly, familiar music began to play in the room.
Carlyle turned to face him, her lips trembling as she spoke, "Lane, why are you here?"
Lane's eyes were fixed on her as he slowly approached, saying, "I juat want to see you, why did you do this to me?"
"I..." Carlyle, faced with his intense gaze and questioning, took a few steps back in a panic, pressing herself against the mirror.
Suddenly, Lane pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. His lips pressed against her earlobe as he whispered, "Promise me you'll never leave without saying goodbye again, okay?"
Her once-trembling body, now tightly embraced by him, gave way to the two years of longing for him, and her tears flowed uncontrollably.
The two years of separation had made them hold each other so tightly.
The music continued to play in the bridal shop.
When the song ended, Lane lifted her face with both hands and asked with deep affection:
"Carlyle, will you marry me? I've been waiting for you to say yes for more than two years!"
"I..." Carlyle barely had a chance to respond with "I do," when Lane couldn't restrain himself any longer. He lowered his head and kissed her lips passionately, his emotions of missing her for the past two years exploding in that moment.
Carlyle held him tightly, her arms instinctively wrapping around his body.
The assistant had already quietly stepped out of their sight, leaving the space to them.
