2nd. Season -
In the stormy night, Fiona Ashford watched her brother Declan walk in, carrying a soaking wet woman.
When Fiona recognized the woman in his arms, she was shocked. "Carlyle... Carlyle..." She turned to Declan immediately. "Declan, what did you do to Carlyle?"
Declan carried Carlyle to a room, irritated. "Sis, why are you talking too much? Can't you see Carlyle is drenched? Get some clothes for her and dry her hair."
"Okay." Fiona hurried to get clothes, changing Carlyle and drying her hair.
She plopped down on Declan's bed and, looking at Carlyle's still sleepy face, asked, "Why'd you go pick a fight with Carlyle the second you got outta jail?"
Declan showered and changed into his clothes, walking towards Fiona with an annoyed expression on his face. "Do you really think I bullied Carlyle?" he said.
"What else? It's obvious. If you hadn't sought her out, she wouldn't be here." Fiona questioned Declan immediately.
"I'm telling you, Carlyle tried to walk into traffic. Luckily, I was there to pull her back." Declan explained.
Fiona scoffed. "I bet you were stalking her! Why would she walk into traffic?"
Declan smirked arrogantly. "Of course, she was heartbroken after being used and abandoned by a man."
Fiona glared at him. "How can you talk like that? Carlyle loved you. You were paranoid and abusive. That's why she left you. Your fights even ended up involving the police. If you had let it go, Carlyle wouldn't have filed a restraining order. Have you forgotten all this?"
"I wasn't paranoid. She was emotionally cheating on me with her boss!" Declan's anger flared up again. He looked at Fiona. "Anyway, I'll never let Carlyle go."
"Declan, just let Carlyle go. Once she wakes up, I'll send her home," Fiona said.
Declan walked to the bed. "No, Carlyle will stay here. I want her to live with me."
Fiona stood up, blocking his path. " you're crazy! You can't imprison Carlyle. It's illegal. Have you forgotten you just got out of prison? Do you want to go back?"
"I know it's illegal, but I love her!" Declan's voice grew more agitated.
"Declan, if you truly care about Carlyle, just let her go. Hurting her isn't going to make you feel any better," Fiona pleaded.
Declan looked at Carlyle on the bed, silent for a moment. "I'll sleep in the guest room tonight. You stay with Carlyle. We'll talk tomorrow."
The storm outside was getting worse, and Fiona lay down beside Carlyle. She looked at his face, feeling uneasy and guilty towards him. Years ago, her older brother had lost control of his emotions and attacked her, and then he had gotten into a car accident and ended up in prison. Fiona had thought that she could forget about Carlyle in the past five years. But to her surprise, he had become even more deranged after his release from prison, and he even wanted to imprison her!
She had an important meeting early in the morning but couldn't leave them alone. She decided to rush back after the meeting. Surely her brother wouldn't harm Carlyle.
When she touched Carlyle's body, she jumped up in shock. "Carlyle's temperature is so high!"
She felt Carlyle's forehead, panic setting in. "Carlyle has a high fever!" She shook her, calling out desperately. "Carlyle, wake up, Carlyle..."
Carlyle remained unconscious, asleep deeply.
Fiona ran out of the bedroom, shouting in panic. "Declan, come out, Carlyle is in trouble!"
