They hurried to the airport, entering the bustling terminal. Alison’s eyes were red with worry as she scanned the crowd.
Xavier gently patted her shoulder. "Alison, don’t worry. I believe your son won’t be lost." He tried to comfort her.
Alison looked at him, still panicked, and snapped, "Xavier—Leo isn’t your child, so of course you’re not worried!" She continued searching the crowd, scrutinizing every passing child.
"Who said I’m not worried? Seeing you so distressed makes me worried too," Xavier said earnestly.
Alison glared at him, "Xavier, stop pretending to care!"
Xavier gave her a deep look. "Alison, do you hate me? Is it because of that night?"
"Xavier, what do you want now? Can’t you see I’m looking for my son? If you have time to question me, can’t you help me find him?" Alison’s anxiety made her blurt out the words.
Xavier froze. "Alison, but I’ve never seen your son..."
Alison also froze momentarily, thinking, Leo should look a lot like you!
At that moment, a tall, handsome man approached them, holding a child.
Xavier looked at the man and child, guessing they must be Lane and her son Leo. But who was the father?
Suddenly, jealousy filled his heart. How could someone else have her? She should have been his.
Alison saw Leo and rushed forward, crouching down to hug him. "Leo, you weren’t supposed to run off! You scared Mommy!"
Lane, feeling guilty, said, "Alison, it was my fault. I didn’t keep an eye on him."
Alison stood up, wiping her tears. "Lane, it’s not your fault. Leo is just naturally hyperactive. Thank you for bringing him to the US."
Lane smiled. "Alison, we’re family. Taking care of Leo is my responsibility too."
Leo broke free from Alison’s grip and approached Xavier. "Are you my dad?" he asked innocently.
