The morining after that passionate night with Alison five years ago.
Sunlight streamed intensely through the window. Xavier opened his eyes, feeling a splitting headache. He held his head with both hands and thought, "Why does my head hurt so much? Did I get drunk last night?"
Seeing himself completely naked, with his clothes strewn over the sofa, he wondered, "What exactly happened last night?"
Just as he was about to get up, his fingers brushed against something. He picked it up and saw it was a hair accessory. "Why is there a hair accessory on the bed?" he wondered.
Could this be Alison's hair accessory? Did something happen between them last night?
Did they both get drunk last night?
Thinking about what happened last night, memories started to resurface. Though his recollection was hazy, he vaguely remembered those soft lips and fair skin. Holding her body had stirred him so deeply, so passionately. A smile involuntarily crept onto his face.
The passionate moments from last night kept replaying in his mind. Again and again, he had wanted to possess her. Could it be that he had already fallen for her but refused to admit it all along?
Even a read or unread message could affect his mood for the entire day.
So Alison was already etched deeply in his heart.
Xavier quickly picked up his phone and sent her a message.
"Alison, where are you?"
"Alison, I want to see you!"
Just then, Xavier's phone rang. He thought to himself, Is it Alison calling?
On the other end of the line, Carlyle's panicked voice came through, "Xavier, you need to stay calm and listen to me. The coast guard found a drowned woman on the shore. The woman has been identified as Alison..."
In an instant, Xavier froze, his phone slipping from his grasp and crashing to the floor.
How could this be? How was it possible? Just this morning, he had held her soft body, inhaled the scent of her hair. Her hairpin still lay on the coffee table, forgotten. How could she be the drowned woman found on the shore?
"Why did she leave him like this, just when he wanted to love her wholeheartedly?
His heart ached so much. He couldn't believe this was real!
That drowned body couldn't possibly be hers!"
Xavier stared intensely at her, his eyes burning with emotion. Alison finally appeared before him. At that moment, his feelings were so intense that he vowed never to let her out of sight again.
