Evan looked over, his eyes cold, "What, she didn’t tell you?"
"N-no."
Evan was about to speak, but Sophia beat him to it, "He’s my husband. Evan is my husband."
Mia stood there as if struck by lightning.
Behind her, the classmates wore the same stunned expressions.
They were married?
As if to confirm their thoughts, Evan said calmly, "We got our marriage certificate six months ago. We didn’t have a wedding, so we didn’t inform you all."
The crowd gasped.
Who could have guessed that the class’s most unattainable guy would be won over by Sophia, the often clumsy one?
On further thought, it made sense.
Evan had always sat behind Sophia, and even without lifting his head, he could sense her presence. For a bookworm like Evan, the only person who could enter his heart might be someone constantly in his sight.
Leonard was the first to break the silence, smiling, "Congratulations, you two. True love prevails."
However, Sophia’s next words shocked everyone once again.
"We... don’t have true love. Evan and I... got married through a matchmaker!"
A matchmaker!
Everyone exchanged glances.
So there was more to this story than they knew!
The male classmate who had spoken earlier wanted to ask more, but Evan didn’t give him the chance. He pulled Sophia, ready to leave.
Sophia, mustering some unknown courage, pushed him away, frowning in displeasure.
"I don’t want to go home. You said if I drank again, you’d divorce me. I’m not going home with you."
Di... divorce?
The classmates felt overwhelmed by the information these two had revealed in just a few minutes.
As they pondered how to resolve the couple's conflict, Leonard stepped in front of Sophia.
"Evan, it’s rare for you to come. How about staying for a drink?"
Mia, closest to them, saw it clearly. Leonard positioned himself protectively in front of Sophia.
Seeing Evan’s darkened expression, Mia’s heart raced.
If she wasn’t mistaken, Leonard was provoking Evan.
Sophia, oblivious to the tension between the two men, drunkenly nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it’s your first time at a class reunion. It’s a rare chance..."
Evan ignored her and asked Mia, "Where’s her bag?"
"Bag? Oh, over there. I’ll get it for you."
Mia handed the bag to Evan and only then realized what she had done. She wanted to say something but was silenced by Evan’s icy gaze.
Evan took Sophia’s bag in one hand and reached for her with the other, but Sophia suddenly grabbed for the bag.
"I’m not going home. Give me my bag..."
She moved too quickly. By the time Evan reacted, she had already grabbed the handbag's strap.
Leonard frowned, "Evan, she’s drunk. Let her sober up before taking her home."
As he spoke, he reached to help Sophia retrieve her handbag.
Somehow, as Leonard’s hand touched the bag, a box of pills fell out.
The letters spelling "contraceptives" seemed to magnify, capturing everyone's attention.
