“Let’s go, don’t be nervous.” Nathan gave a gentle smile, exuding warmth.
This reminded Aria of when she first met her brother-in-law; Nathan's warmth had truly eased her nerves.
But now, Aria wasn’t nervous at all.
Her brother-in-law, a famous star, seemed unapproachable but was actually clingy once you got to know him. In her past life, Nathan, often away for work, had arranged for his brother to keep her company. Over time, she couldn't shake him off and ended up spending most of her time with him.
Aria, however, didn’t voice any of this. Instead, she clung to Nathan’s arm and smiled, “With you by my side, how could I be nervous?”
A simple statement, but it made Nathan’s heart swell with happiness, a smile reaching his ears.
Suppressing his laughter, Nathan nodded slightly, “Just stick close to me. No need to worry.”
With that, he led Aria into the restaurant.
Inside, soft, slow-paced music played, creating a comfortable atmosphere.
“Is it just the two of you?” a waiter approached and asked.
“We’re here to see Leonard,” Nathan replied.
“Right this way, please.” The waiter politely led them to their table.
At the table, they saw a young man lounging in a chair, his feet propped up on the table. He faced the window, showing only his profile and the sparkle of a sapphire earring.
This was Leonard, Nathan’s younger brother, who feared nothing except his brother and, eventually, Aria too.
Aria remembered his tear-streaked face by her hospital bed when she was dying. The memory made her smile.
Her laughter caught Nathan’s and Leonard’s attention.
Realizing she had laughed out loud, Aria straightened up, standing properly beside Nathan.
Nathan chuckled indulgently and gently patted her hand before approaching Leonard.
Seeing Nathan and Aria, Leonard quickly sat up, dropping his feet to the floor.
“Nathan, you finally made it. I had to ditch my manager to steal this bit of time to sneak out.” Leonard looked aggrieved.
Dressed in a designer outfit with light makeup and styled hair, it was clear he had just come from an event.
“We’re here now,” Nathan said nonchalantly.
“Nathan, your words are so hurtful. My heartfelt efforts are crushed to nothing,” Leonard said, clutching his heart dramatically.
Aria silently admired his acting skills; he really was a natural.
“Enough joking. This is your sister-in-law.” Nathan guided Aria to sit down.
Leonard had been curious about Aria. He thought if she fangirled over him, he’d drive her away. But instead, she seemed unfazed, even laughing mysteriously at first.
Leonard studied Aria as she studied him.
Right now, Leonard looked youthful and vibrant.
